Terry wore out his welcome but then the entire cast did. The original idea of the character was fine, a superhero is in love with an ordinary person with none of the secret identity bullshit this usually involves. He wasn’t a great character but he didn’t appear enough for him to be annoying unless you were freaked out by a sexy superhero sleeping with an unsexy mortal.

After the wedding he should have been mostly retired and because he wasn’t, he became so annoying that the marriage seemed retroactively like a bad idea.

You neglected to mention he was a skeevy old professor who claimed he was "29" but looked 40 and was drawn eerily like the writer. That stuff alone should've made editorial nix the character before his first issue.

George Pérez seems to have based the character more on the editor (and Wolfman’s bestie) Len Wein.

Wein should have told him to change the look of the character for the reasons you mentioned though. Pérez was a genius but he had some odd ideas about design and costuming.

Now does DC want to use any of these characters for a Titans arc? No, because they’re too obsessed with redoing Church of Blood, Deathstroke, Terra, and evil Raven to bring back other villains.

It's why Barda took WW's place on the Justice League in Batman Beyond and why WW wasn't on the Justice League in Batman 2004.

It wasn't until 2010 did that licensing issue resolve, but Donna and various WW villains barely missed being in Young Justice season 1 because of that.

Basically this, plus Donna's origin is a stack of retcons that DC writers can't stop messing with, and the only time she was particularly popular and important was in 80s Titans, where she was in a relationship people can't stop seething about even today. The only time she was notably popular is retroactively also seen as the run that "ruined" the character. Terry being Wolfman's self-insert makes it an easy argument to make, but a lot of them just seem outraged by the idea of a heroine having any kind of normie love interest, and like her role should be as the girlfriend of some superhero of their choosing.

Perez had some designs that absolutely knocked it out of the park, and lot that were just garish and odd. A lot of his designs were too elaborate and detailed for other artists to want to draw, so didn't last long after he left a book.

I think there's a general point in how back in older times, a guy who was almost 30 dressing and conducting himself much the same as a guy in his 40s would be broadly the norm, thoughever these days a guy who's almost 30 might be a lot more likely to be dressing and conducting himself a lot more like he did when he was 20. There's also teens having to mature faster in older generations when a lot less of them went to college, and starting work earlier was much more of a thing. It was the norm for most of the teen heroes at early 60s Marvel to wear suits when they weren't in costume.

That other anon is right that sometimes young people can physically look a lot older than they are, especially if they've done way too much drugs or alcohol, too much can make them look decades older than they are.

Backwards.
She started out a random baby girl rescued by Wonder Woman, given powers by the Amazons, and raised on Themyscira as her little sister.
Then she became a random baby girl rescued by the Titans of Myth, turned into a proto-god, and raised on New Cronus with others children picked from across the galaxy.
Then she became a magic clone of Wonder Woman.
Then she died.
Then she did Crisis on Infinite Donnas where she came back knowing all the knowledge of all her multiversal variants (Dark Angel, Harbinger, etc.) and all the permutations of her origin story.
Then she was wiped from existence by Barry fucking Allen.
Then she came back again as a magic clone, but evil.
Now they took it back to the start.

>>149121531
Sparta is one of the Titan Seeds from her New Cronus origin. She's not a villain.
Perfection is a deep deep cut, from a WW backup in between TTv1 and NTT. It was more notable, I thought, for the weird relationship between Donna and Mr. Jupiter. But hey, we know she likes older men...
Bogeyman was from the Robinson JLA run, a flashback to when she was a kid. He was another villain that just wanted to fuck her.

DC has never known what to do with Donna Troy ever since Bob Haney stuck her in Teen Titans without realizing that Robert Kanigher had written Wonder Girl as Wonder Woman's teenage self.

Everybody has tried to explain her ever since, but nothing sticks.

>Terry being Wolfman's self-insert makes it an easy argument to make

The funny part is that Terry Long wasn't actually Wolfman's self-insert.

He resembles more Len Wein (the editor, also co-creator of Wolverine) more. And I'm certain there are old interviews where Perez confirms that similarity is intentional.
