I'm reading some 80s comics and having a blast.
But what's the second best decade in comics?

It's... weird.

It's an "urban young people light drama with rom-com elements" except it REALLY looks like a children's comic while being anything but. It REALLY BADLY NEEDED a "Mature Readers" warning from issue #1, but didn't get one until the very last issue. Like half of the letters they published in the letters page were people complaining about the content, and like half of those were from kids and the rest from parents.

It's just an oddball in DC's publishing history that doesn't really fit in and is difficult to classify.

But the simple answer: Is it any good? I'd rank it as "your mileage may vary". Worth giving a shot and making up your own mind.

If you want more from the same writer/artist, then look up Marvel's "Yuppies From Hell" from the same decade. If you like one then I imagine you might like the other.

The 50s had a lot of good stuff. Between EC, Disney stuff, Lulu, and other random stuff, it's really not a bad decade. Superhero comics in the 50s were ass though.

And the 2000s had good stuff, too. Not nearly as bad of a decade as /co/ makes it out to be.

Because they are retarded zoomer tourists who don't actually read comics and consume them entirely through youtube essays, tiktok, twitter threads and the wiki.
And when they do read a comic they'll read the "best arc" of a run - death and return, or things like the dark phoenix saga and never actually experience the full comic like the trogs they are.

80s is definitely the best decade. Personally I'd say the 70s but DC was largely fucking dogshit outdated archie slop - the reason why the 80s is good is because they finally start to get their shit together to compete with Marvel.
2000's has it's share of good material a lot of people like between the two of them so you can make an argument for that. But the "modern colouring and art" in the early 00's was absolute slop.
It was also when how comics were written started to drastically change for the worse. Almost no narration from the authors, no thought bubbles, shitty fucking dialogue between characters that was barely believable, story's were padded out between issues. And this just extends into the 2010' and 2020's.

Nah, there's a lot of good stuff out of 70s DC. The Legion, Warlord, Denny O'Neil Batman, everything Kirby did, Goodwin and Simonson's Manhunter... Green Lantern/Green Arrow is also pretty notable even if most people probably don't think it's aged well.

Heroes Reborn was a flash in a pan, it just meant that a bunch of titles most people weren't even reading just sucked a little more than usual.
Harras-era Marvel was pretty lousy for the most part, but there were a few good books here and there. Carlin-era DC was pretty good overall.

>Heroes Reborn was a flash in a pan, it just meant that a bunch of titles most people weren't even reading just sucked a little more than usual.

It varied. Arguably Heroes Reborn Cap was worse than the Waid/Garney Cap but I would actually take Heroes Reborn Cap over a lot of Cap stuff from the 2010s.

People keep forgetting that right before Heroes Reborn Iron Man there was The Crossing/Teen Tony so Heroes Reborn Iron Man was arguably an improvement over that
