There's a very tight window where they want to release Battinson (call it an Elseworlds) and then they have to go right into recasting/relaunching Batman with a different tone.

And they just announced (Tom King's) Mr Miracle is getting a cartoon.

And there's been rumors swirling about Deadman, Wonder Twins, Metal Men getting animated projects, even retooling The Authority to animation.

Disney has completely shit the bed with incorporating Marvel into their animated feature history, but Gunn seems to actually respect the WB-DC animation history. He's letting ideas flourish in that space

Beyond draws a line in the sand as to where the "modern" Batman ends and how. It makes what previous established elements you see in Beyond feel all the more poignant.
comic Beyond has to jump through all these hoops as to where Terry even fits on a timeline with Damian(which the DCU movies want to establish too), what heroes existed or continue to exist, why Bruce would rely on Terry as his legacy(when it even is a Bruce-Terry situation), and so on.
