This and the newer PR comic exist in an alternate reality (think Ultimate or Absolute universe but Power Rangers) where earth has been "peacefully" colonized and the rangers never formed. Rita shows up and decides to form the rangers herself disliking the fact that Earth had already been conquered by someone else. The VR Troopers are introduced early in the series as semi-antagonists to the new Rangers. The new series is focused on them, Ryan gets the spotlight this issue.

I'm interested to see just how much this book intertwines with Power Rangers Prime since the Troopers are pretty major characters there and that book has a *lot* going on. Speaking of which: how do people feel about Prime, generally? I've been finding it fun but I also feel like I've walked into a movie halfway through at times, because I've not read the regular PR ongoing in a hot minute and I'm not sure if this Prime universe sprung from something in that.

Also, some of the variant covers for this issue are fucking dope.

I initially thought it was sacrilege to redesign the Metalder suit, but it's grown on me.

I liked VR Troopers as a kid but looking back the american side of the show was kinda dull. The MMPR teens had a fun side to them off combat. They hang around or did stuff. Ryan & co didn't do much off combat. It felt like being the VR Troopers was all that connected them.

If characters started hard cursing, having on-panel sex, showing explicit gore, etc THAT would've gone too far but this is PG-13 at most.

The question is, can they? other MH licenses are likely a hard no because they'd need to be separate licenses, but how much of the original show can they use beyond what was adapted?

Unrelated to any show other than having some of the characters. Having read the first issue of VR Troopers, you don't really need to read Power Rangers Prime but it does provide more context for the Troopers place in this timeline and the colonization of earth.

Well the simple answer is it does hinder some movement, which is why so many other series avoid it. or you use stunt parts for more extreme poses and stiffer parts for ones where you're showing off the suit
