Also fandoms are just shit in general now. You saw it in the convention thread where most conventions are now just glorified shopping malls with a cosplay event attached.
It used to be like, you talked about thing. Then the shipping and the cosplays and the fanart and all that was sorta the side dressing. The fun shit we all got up to.
Now it's more that companies have realized fandom culture serves as good advertising and consistent revenue and stuff so absolutely nothing is genuine anymore and it all feels more like an active attempt to form communities rather than a natural congregation of people who liked thing
