Why do they keep doing this? Why can't there be a single instance where Clark decides to become a scientist and take the stories to a different avenue? It's 2025, journalism is dead, no matter which way you cut it. He's a Sci-Fi character, let him have a primarily Sci-Fi aesthetic, world and stories.

silver age superman was a scientist, he invented all those robots for instance
clark kent was a journalist, but in the silver age clark kent was just a sham he put up

post-crisis superman severely cut down on his science-ness and generally made him more of normal intelligence
as part of the general nerfing to superman (he couldnt pull planets anymore) and a reduction of the amount of silliness in his comics (including his superman robots)
