Nice
On a first time watch, I can see a noticable dip but it's not all terrible. I kinda don't like Weissmans attitude though. He seems kinda dickish.

as always, the biggest problem about Young Justice. Invasion should've been season 3 and we should've had a season during the 5 year timeskip to help transition the team from season 1 into the Invasion team. let us get used to characters like Batgirl and Lagoon Boy on the team, show us Aqualad leaving the team instead of leaving it to a game that nobody played, then give us Invasion that adds and focuses on characters like Blue Beetle and Impulse. unfortunately, Weisman is a worldbuilding autist and prioritizes building the YJ world more than the actual story

Weisman had a great response to the therapy episode in season one so he kept trying to recapture the magic in later seasons by having more and more therapy episodes. If there was a season five, they were setting up for an adaptation of Santuary/Heroes in Crisis where there would be even more therapy sessions. Also, when Big Barda, Black Mary and Supergirl inevitably defect from Apokolips, they'll probably all need therapy too from the trauma that they faced there. It may have been a budget cut thing as well because it's cheaper/easier to animate two people sitting and talking than an action scene that requires a lot of movement.

For season 4 the arcs of child and general zod are the best but in order to enjoy them you have to sit some of the most poinless shit this show have, Like a reiligion class (dr fate literaly pray to fix the problem...also there is a muslim around) or the lore infodump that vandal pukes mid season (they made both magic users and atlantians meta-humans, as if fans even reac good to that type of retcon).
For season 3 i only care for Geoforce arc.
Also season 4 shows how villans (not vandal) carry this show, only because all the personal drama makes the heros seem lame.

>Mary implied to try to use adult body for adult things despite being a minor
>Jeff Goslin dating Captain Atom's daughter despite him being his best friend and her being 20 years younger
>Captain Atom dating an aged hippy because he can't relate to women his age anymore
>Tom and Katherine in Gargoyles getting together despite him being a little boy and her a young adult before they went to Avalon
>Demona and Brooklyn hooking up in Puck's bad future
>Spectacular Spider-Man Hammerhead implied to fool around with teen Sable before Silvermane had him "fired"

Garfield and Perdita are rather mild in comparison.

It didn't work in YJ season 4 because the pay off with Beast Boy felt way too prolonged and most people were indifferent to his plight by then. It's a shame since this is the only time BB feels like a fleshed out character outside the comics and it makes sense considering he's had to face mortality since he was a boy in season 1. The execution just wasn't as good and I think Greg Cipes's voice acting also took me out of it.

In contrast, my favorite issue in Spectacular Spider-Men was the therapy one since it did a nice job grounding all of the hectic superhero stuff from the previous arc and had some good character work for Peter, Miles, and even the supporting cast. Too bad the Elementary plot took up too much time and focus aftewards.

I'm actually fine with that. I hate the SJW stuff but Weissman chose to be more surface level with it. Most people would still defend Isaac just because it isn't "woke" (from a normalfag perspective). YJ has Lex act out Trump's mannerisms but they at least picked an angle instead of making him both an evil mastermind and stupid. I mean they still made the Zods racial supremacist despite making them Black.

It's a bit unwelcome that all of the evil Kryptonians were black. Not because I dislike the overt "black people = evil" message, but because I like Zod and want him and his followers to be white.

I was also, for the record, not really happy with the Gods and Monsters making the Superman who's Zod's son into a half space Mexican.

There was a lot of unintentional racism there. The good Kryptonians were all white while many of the background Kryptonians in the Phantom Zone jail were POCs and they all sang slave songs while they worked. After the finale when General Zod went back to jail, his son ended up being raised by a single mom after she escaped with the Eye of Ekron.

Isnโ€™t Conner supposed to be really important anyway? Inspired the LoSH by making a stand 10 years from season 4.

No, it was originally supposed to be Superman which is why he recognized their rings before anyone else knew what was going on. it was hinted that if Superman was unavailable, then LoSH would maybe try to use Kon as their backup plan. Since Darkseid was being set up as a major threat in YJ, the writers could be taking inspiration from "The Great Darkness Saga" where the Legion has to fight Darkseid in the future and they have to recruit a bunch of superheroes from different eras to help them.

S4 has several mini-arcs each focusing on a different main character from S1 so you may enjoy it more than S3. Also, if you watched GLTAS, there's a couple of cameos during Rocket's arc on New Genesis and the same voice actors from GLTAS are used.

stuff like Catwoman Hunted could work. it's in the same universe (or, practically is), but it's still mostly self-contained. like, a Suicide Squad movie in the world would be cool and the only connecting threads would be Mallah and Black Manta on the team. speaking of which, did they ever explain what happened to The Brain? iirc, he wasn't with Mallah on Task Force X and he wasn't mentioned, but i didn't read the comics so idk if they mentioned what happened to him there

Speaking of the Martians, something in Young Justice that kinda pissed me is that, in Season 1, M'gann's true form is treated as a dark secret that she's hiding from her teammates and she has a whole character arc that ends with her finally revealing that she's a monster to her friends but they all still love her anyway.

But then in Season 2 it's revealed that actually, all Martians look exactly like M'gann.

And yeah, I get that IN-UNIVERSE, the whole thing is that she's a White Martian instead of a Green Martian, but the show definitely tricks you into assuming that ONLY White Martians are monsters and Green Martians are naturally humanoid, but that ends up not being true at all

To be fair. I think YJ is just handled like there's a bigger universe out there than spin-off bait. I don't think Greg ever mentioned any spin-offs being seriously set-up or in the works and it's not as obvious about it like the World Tour in Gargoyles was. Maybe Bowhunter Security was a bit blatant.
