Seems Paramount loses the rights if they don't get a new movie out by 2029.

So we got:
>Three Michael Bay movies in his old style
>Two Michael Bay movies in his new, CGI heavy, even more batshit incoherent style
>One heartfelt movie with really good action and designs
>One movie that clumsily tries to copy his SECOND style, not the first one, and ends up delivering a mediocre product, but more consistent that the Bay movies

You should, and you're right, the marketing was abysmal. It's pretty much unanimous opinion that the movie's trailers are what caused it to fail. They totally dropped the ball in representing what the movie was like.
Now, don't go into it thinking it's a PERFECT movie, it has a minor pacing issue. But it's still great.

I think Transformer movies are forever cursed to never have good quality filmmaking cause anytime someone actually competent enough comes in to direct or try to deliver a quality product. It either suffers from Bayverse stigma, or internal sabotage from within.
It's about to get worse especially in this age of post irony world where people watch bad films intentionally.

Bay's best movies are when he's not attached to an IP.

The designs in Bumblebee are inherently superior to those of Bayformers because they actually bother adhering to some classic mecha design tropes to ensure readability in motion. Turns out that making everyone jaggy grey blobs wasn't working out.

Anybody excited by this believes Bay can pull the OG trilogy again when he ruined his own franchise and has made nothing but slop since he left. No Bayformers fan has seen any other Bay film outside of maybe his two Bad Boys and Pain & Gain. But they will still believe this freak can replicate something of ages ago.

Dude almost killed the Transformers franchise in the first place with his awful Age of Extinction and The Last Knight and that was almost a decade ago, dude has only become worse with time and hasn't even been able to make memorably bad movies, just forgettable mediocre ones. Also they are keeping Josh Cooley for another live action movie. Meaning they do know people love the movie and that director is worth keeping, but don’t want to make a sequel to One. Instead they are making more confusing live action slop with shaky continuity that will keep underperforming due to lack of audience interest in this world

It's true though, Bumblebee was extremely straightforward as a movie while Bayshit is a bunch of convoluted bullshit. It's almost like Bay can't comprehend you can have action that is easy to read and a story that isn't complete nonsense. Only the first movie has anything approaching a positive reception and that's because it has the least amount of bullshit in it even if it still had its fair share of problems. He's batting 1/5 at this point.
