I'm not sure it counts but SU putting up extremely baity titles on episodes about nothing only to put in massive bombshells in episodes that's called "Donut Dreams" or whatever.

I don't even hate this episode as much as others do but it does feel weird that they marketed it this way. What made it "lost"?

Anyone who watches Family Guy(and isn't autistic in the actual sense of the word) would know how much of a nothing burger it was. I also hated how people thought Brian was brought back because of "backlash", as if these episodes weren't made like a year earlier
This is why cartoons like these dont try to do anything new, the audiences are too fucking stupid.

>Promos hype this episode as "Spongebob leaves the town and get amnesia"
>Sandy, Patrick, Gary and Mr. Krabs are totally out of character and cruel towards Spongebob, calling him "Idiot boy" which drives him into leaving the town.
>Squidward is really unlikable
>Grossout "realistic" pic of Spongebob
>Dark humor joke against homeless people, which is kind of sick because homeless people can't see it, it's like making a joke behind their back
>Twisted moral for ending with the "Status Quo is God" trope.
This episode is not only a lame ratings trap, this is probably the most mean-spirited Spongebob episode. The tone feels more like a Family Guy episode.

My Little Pony started one season with a plot about whether or not Twilight was going to send Starlight away since she finished being a student offscreen. This was highly promoted as a big status quo change. The episode ended with this not happening and the writers promising us that she'll never, ever leave and continue to be the awkward 7th wheel character that no one likes.

Reminds me of one of Mike Carlin's lines when talking about The Death and Return of Superman.
>Reporters would ask "How dare you take Superman away from his people?" I would inquire back, "Well... when was the last time YOU bought a SUPERMAN comic?"
>The answer, invariably, was something like, "Well... maybe 20 or 30 years."
>That rested my case... "IF you don't water your plants they WILL die. And Superman was there when YOU weren't!"

To be honest, Small Horse changed the status quo several times and the response of the viewers were always unanimously "fuck, go back".

That entire show is such a shining star of corporate mismanagement that its unbelievable. Not only they have struck gold beyond their wildest imaginations but completely failed to capitalize on it and almost as if they actively sabotaged it. Like /toy/ will tell you how they did not make plushies of the extremely marketable main characters for YEARS, despite the customers begging for them. They wanted to throw money at them, yet they somehow managed to dodge the wads and they went to indie craftsmen and chinese bootleg companies. Yes, the toy company whos' toy ad blew up just refused to make toys. Why? No why.

This should have been the defining moment of the cringe era of 2013, not some neckbeard badly singing a song at a con.

>>149189698
Its pretty funny how good writers always work with the simplest of concepts and make it work, while bad writers want to make the most complicated and contrived premise possible and fail to make it interesting or funny anyway.

>>149188750
