I'm currently seeing this problem in a new light due to everything going on with the housing market. I can make $70k a year, with a full time job for over 10 years, and still get outbid by an actual New York jew family who has suitcases of actual cash that can pay $20k over any actual bid. If I'm never going to be able to afford a house, and I can't possibly throw more money at my current problem, why NOT throw the money at frivolous things.

I draw the line at donating though, which is burning money with extra steps.
