See, /co/ users think they are unique but they are NPCs

It's not about being special. I still enjoy mainstream video games like Mario Odyssey and Fortnite. This show called Lastman has been keeping me entertained and I'll admit the shitty cartoons part isn't completely honest because I do enjoy Smiling Friends . Duckman is funny too

As much as people like to pretend they're well cultured and enlightened, most of /co/ loves slop and don't know much about the mediums they consoom all day. Half of them probably hate it and rather watch anime or play vidya. Every other board has people who are aware of the most obscure shit in their respective medium, it's a bit of a struggle on /co/
And at the same time, they're horny manchilren so they orbit stuff that no one outside of here actually cares about and are constantly out of touch with what's popular among actual audiences.
You can try to make a comics thread about something that isn't DC and Marvel though, depending on the comic.
Or maybe most things made are slop and gems are rare, that could be the case too

/sp/ only discusses tier 1 soccer, major leagues, and world cup. Most threads on one sport. They will ignore lower divisions outside the UK entirely.

The issue is people are both lazy and don't have self-thought or can make decisions for themselves, so corporations have to decide for them, and their interests or what they know about are only in what is most advertised by the corporations. 4chan users are not immune to this as much as they think they are.

Most people on /co/ don't read comics. They get mad over culture wars debates, talk petty or shallow things, react to bait or are coomers. The ones that do read comics mostly read the same trash from the big 2 and then get mad over it and debate it. Only a thin slither of people here read comics or experience the medium to a good degree.

The same thing happens elsewhere. Comics on Twitter or TikTok? Talked about far more than you expect but the actual people who read the damn things are far and few between. People like to talk about everything around this topic rather than experiencing the thing itself.

People just don't seem to appreciate the actual medium, they like specific things like superheroes and talk around the medium or about random topics. You'll find a lot of boards are like this about various mediums but at least some people actually watch a movie or play a video game.

Most of this site, like most of life, is people regurgitating the same tired opinions of an opinion over and over again because they don't bother to actually experience what people are talking about but still have a take or like to pretend they read something.

I tried storytiming to varying degrees of success.
Mostly success (surprisingly) but sometimes I feel like it's just putting a band-aid on a gaping wound even if it feels good seeing Anons be happily introduced to comics they otherwise wouldn't have read.
Wanting to introduce /co/ to obscurer comics to help discussion is probably one of the few reasons why I'm even still on this board primarily.

Most people here hate the medium of comics and just have nostalgia for something they read as a kid. Some comics are read by tens of thousands of people at most. That is a practical niche of a niche.
