George and Junior made their debut on Cartoon Network, often considered one of the worst shorts featured on What A Cartoon.

These shorts were so poorly received that they killed off George and Junior for almost 25 years. The two bears were never used again until 2019 where they were featured in The Tom and Jerry Show episode "Shadow of a Doubt".

I mean who is actually entertained by a bad wannabe of Tex Avery with terrible pacing and jokes? It's honestly pretty hilarious how even in the "cool 90s", the coolest and most authentic shit was from the 1940s.
Remember when everyone wanted their own Ren and Stimpy?
>>149196567 (OP)I caught these when Chckered Past aired them and they were pretty bad. I had no idea they randomly got used in a Tom and Jerry Show episode. They even kept the ass kicking joke.
>>149196567 (OP)> These shorts were so poorly received that they killed off George and Junior for almost 25 years. The two bears were never used again until 2019 where they were featured in The Tom and Jerry Show episode "Shadow of a Doubt".How many What A Cartoon shorts made appearances after their original short if they didnโt get picked up?
>>149196567 (OP)Didnโt the animator of those shorts also animated an episode of the Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat?
>>149196567 (OP)Between this and Wacky World it seemed like someone really fucking hated Tex Avery and his legacy. At least Droopy was treated with respect.
>>149196567 (OP)They tried so hard to get Pat Ventura a show and it never worked out
>>149198673Maybe he never actually wanted a show in the first place. Maybe making all those batshit insane cartoons was all he really wanted.
>>149196742OP is more like Ren and Stimpy than what you posted.

>>149198673I like his art and sense of humor, but he really needed a partner.
>>149196567 (OP)>often considered one of the worst shorts featured on What A Cartoon. For good reason - I've seen gore vids that were less painful to watch than this shit.
People shit on Cow and Chicken, but it was the only WAC short that wasn't just "two wacky animals having a job and being shit at it". Yes it had the animal formula, but it at least had a plot.
>>149196567 (OP)Tony Pope is dead, voice of Junior.
>>149196567 (OP)Thanks for unlocking a vague 30 year old memory OP

What A Cartoon had too many animal duos, no wonder the winners stood out.
>all this pat ventura hate
you guys never understand
>>149196674>the coolest and most authentic shit was from the 1940s.the guys who made the cartoons in the 90s think the 40s animation were the coolest. I remember that E Animation of spumco about how john k wants to bring the the way animation was in the 40s.
>>149207298He had potential, but most of his stuff was just aimless slapstick. His Twisted Tales of Felix episodes were good since it had an actual plot.

The thing about these โAveryesqueโ cartoons from back then is that none of them actually feel like Tex cartoons.
>>149196567 (OP)Pat peaked at Yuckie Duck.
>>149206275I always wondered what the long term plans were for Worm Paranoia. I really like that short, but I just can't see that expanding into a full series. Same issue a lot of these shorts had, and another reason you can see why the pilots that got picked up did. Larry and Steve could have been good but would look so out of place with the other cartoons during the time.
>>149200583This is literally abuse and it is NOT OKAY.
>>149205179What the fuck is your damage
>>149196567 (OP)I noticed that only one character moves at a time in these while the other one is just completety stand still.
>>149208040They never figured out the pacing, and as a result were just "the motions" of jokes and visuals we've seen before but as a schizophrenic mess.
