Most girls explicitly want a show where they can relate and see themselves, while boys don't usually care about that.
Since the networks are trying to reach as many people as possible, shows about girls are the obvious answer.

I don't think it's that. Or at least inherently I don't think one is more inspiring than the other. Just that one lends itself more to gay stuff and that's a smaller group. A much smaller group. And it doesn't really relate to the point I made anyway.
