Major future Storm revelations in this week's X-Men: Hellfire Vigil #1 (XSpoilers... no seriously, Big spoilers)

Cover Price is a website that serves the comic book collector and speculator markets, reading comic books early and putting out speculator alerts to let collectors know about first appearances of new characters and the like, spoilers be damned. And they charge a premium subscription rate for such revelations. But then, of course, some people screencap those alerts and share them wider on social media. And that's when they occasionally come to Bleeding Cool, such as this one from this week's Hellfire Vigil #1. Actually, you know what, it gets pretty deep, let's do one of these first.

There we go. Here is the image in question:

And some exclusive text for Bleeding Cool readers giving it a little extra context. "As Storm takes a pregnancy test, revealed as negative, But gets a vision from Eternity, as part of her role as Eternity's Champion, and shows her a future daughter, named Furaha, Swahili for a feeling of happiness, who will be born on 6/16 at 6:16 exactly, and that she has black hair and fangs, "like her father". And this is Storm's reaction to the Furaha vision and her nameโ€ฆ

Yeah but Ewing says in his Blog that he was told to make 616 day a big thing and introduce the concept to new readers
>The brief for this one was a little different and took a long journey through various iterations to the page - but essentially, it was about introducing the concept of the Multiverse (and "616" as the Marvel Universe's multiversal number) to new readers.

Someone confusing Ultimate continuity for 616 is worryingly possible, especially with the absolute state of editorial. Judging by Aaron's Heroes Reborn AU, he genuinely seemed to believe the twins started out as actual evil villains who would have remained villains forever in a world with no Avengers.

It's just spent most of this century becoming increasingly normie-repellent and if you dare suggest maybe they should try to make it more like what it was when it used to be really popular, what's left of the fandom will get so mad at you.

The mentality is more understandable when you see them as following the X-Men like a sports team, not just like a comic they read. Thus the sticking through awful runs they hate, not just quitting when they obviously haven't enjoyed anything in decades, and the 'rivalries' with other Marvel teams and characters that only exist inside their own heads, and losing their minds when some of those other teams or characters are doing better than X-Men, especially with adaptations.

The whole racial metaphor angle just led to even worse levels of self-insertion than most other cape comic fandoms get, and even crazier levels of taking every bad thing that happens in the stores personally.

I could never really understand that. I love Spider-Man as a character, but I'd have to be a nut to act like I'm owed anything for reading through his shittier adventures. Or that the X-men books selling a lot means a damn thing to the Avengers books and vice versa.

They've convinced themselves the entire X-Men line was the only thing that was selling for Marvel during the bankruptcy years, so it was them that kept the company alive through it's darkest time, and so they're owed a debt Marvel can never repay.

There are websites with sales figures that prove the story isn't true, only UXM, X-Men and Wolverine were top 10 books (and sales from 3 books alone weren't going to keep Marvel alive), the rest of the line was usually getting outsold by Heroes Reborn/Return titles, but you can't counter their faith with facts.

Some days I wish the line would just do what they did with the Ultimates X-men, just wipe the slate clean of all the current mutants and just reintroduce them as isolated instances of an emergent naturally superpowered group of individuals. Not this gigantic bloated whale corpse of a race metaphor. But I know that'd be absolute suicide from a marketing perspective, so it'd never happen. I dunno, I just feel that the X-men are far too big for their own good and only really works when they actually act like people you can relate to or even see in your local community instead of this subculture of creepy supremacists that had to invent their own cipher and gang signs to feel superior to the normies.

I still don't understand how this is a huge problem. Okay, they have a killer satellite prepped to swat intruders. You have Magik, Kid Omega, and Magneto. And probably a dozen high level reality warpers and technopaths on speed dial. Not counting any help that might be called on from everywhere but Earth. Seriously, what's the snag here? What's stopping them from simply dealing with this?

The writers who want to milk their "problems" for all they're worth. It's not like with Tony Stark's problems being caused by his iq turning into the single digits, or Peter Parker's friends deciding that today they're going to be bitchy about him for random shit. The X-men are miserable for the sake of perpetuating the feel and tone of the world being against the X-men cause we gotta sell that merchandise, and no other reason beyond that. As the past four years have demonstrated, they could legitimately have fucked off to practically any other dimension if they chose to if Earth and humanity really were that shitty to them. So the only possible conclusion is that they fucking love their situation, and the fact they have enemies as an excuse as to why their lives suck now instead of themselves and all the assholes they keep bailing out

Depends in what sense. There's periods where the stories are just mediocre and unmemorable, then there are periods where the morality and message of the books is just utterly repellent, which has been getting worse and worse from the early 2000s onwards.
