They're cool sequences, but too over the top to be "true" Tintin, which used elaborate slapstick and a dash of colorful physics but ultimately relied on a core of grounded reality to work.
Maybe with "honest" you mean that despite all its excesses and style divergence the movie does come across as treating the source with respect and affection: in that case I absolutely agree (which is the point of the thread: "not the same, but still good"). I actually like when adaptations don't try to simply "port" the source and instead reflect a particular artist's style and his relationship with the work of another's.
I certainly agree about ZS's Watchmen lol
