To be fair, Stone fucked everything up by outright admitting they fucked Discovery over when he confirmed the show was being delayed until after the Max deal lapsed and "would be back in a big way".

As it stands, Paramount has already admitted outright defeat and agreed to extend the Max deal indefinitely barring any new episodes for at least a year, effectively meaning that Paramount+ won't get to be the exclusive home of the franchise as planned.
