For fans of long running stories/franchises how do you like your status quo vs change in a story? Do you prefer floating time lines like the Simpsons or a story stuck in a certain time period like Asterix? Do you like your stories having histories like Star Wars or things to be rebooted every once a while like marvel/DC does? Do you prefer Serial or episodic?

doesn't matter, either one just has to make logical sense and have context provided for by good writing. in general change needs to happen but it can happen at different rates

Depends on execution, except floating timelines are gay.

I am mildly amused that now 616 Cap woke up after the Iraq War, which is later than Ultimate Cap woke up.

Its always this weird impossible to balance thing because the old stuff is not all bad so you'll always have people who are fans of parts of the older status quo.
But any series that does not end will have a status quo that gets stagnant or clogged so you have to clear some things out.

I'm open to floating timelines, serialized narratives, and even a mix of both like with King of the Hill, but what I'm most in support of is shows not overstaying their welcome. There isn't a single show that needs more than 10 seasons.

What was published originally is all I will watch and read. Anything after that, especially if it’s not by the creator, isn’t canon and doesn’t interest me.

When people talk about how they want everything to be logical, it seems like everyone has their own idea of how logic works in the world of fiction. It's shit like this that make me feel stupid whenever someone says something is illogical because I feel I might be missing something
