Ghost Rider was more well known than Daredevil in the 90s, he wasn't A list but more popular than Cap or Thor among children

If you weren't a 90s kid on those hallowed 90s playgrounds and on the streets talking with friends going to stores discussing characters, you simply don't know this absolute fact

you have to remember that popularity of comic characters wasn't driven by multi million dollar movies and media hype unless it was Batman or Superman, the only Marvel/DC heroes who had that treatment by then (and Wonder Woman and Hulk but they were remnants of 70s nostalgia)

GR having a toyline and a cameo in a cartoon was enough exposure to get kids who actually had an interest in the medium, interested in a comic book character

Is it really so hard to believe that once upon a time people actually read the comics?

For some, yeah. Even in the 90s cartoons, toys, and video games detracted from their focus a bit but people still read them, even if sometimes those things were entry points. I started with comics myself actually

In the past 30 years of my life, I have only met one person who has ever read a comic book, and it's my middle aged dad who has been reading them since the 70s and even he has stopped reading them in the 2010s. No matter how big the Marvel movies got, no one, NO ONE reads comic books. Not children, not teenagers, not adults, and especially. ESPECIALLY not former fans of the comics. The most those guys do these days is maybe watch a recap of the new book on youtube shorts and complain on facebook about the latest awful narrative decision.

These boxes look cool. I like how the trail left behind by the bike doubles as the name bar.

Were they planning a cartoon? This looks like it's in the same lines as the FF and Iron Man toy sets from the action hour shows.

As a kid I had confusion between Ghost Rider and Ghost Writer which was a live action kids show about a disembodied spirit orb of light who guided kids to solve mysteries

Infinity Gauntlet, Separation Anxiety, Maximum Carnage, and Return of the Sinister Six got game tie-ins. Comics were popular enough.

Even obscure weird shit like Chakan got a game.

It was the Marvel cards that were the best entry level into comics. A lot of people got into the cards and then later into comics because of them.

>Were they planning a cartoon?
I heard they were. Ghost Rider had a few cameos in the Hulk and Fantastic Four cartoons so it seems like they might have been setting up a spinoff.

I feel like this thread if it continues is going to be people from varying backgrounds arguing that their childhood experience was universal when being in a different school across town would be enough to shift culture, needless to say if you were in the urban jungle or flyover country or the endless suburbs.

I mean not really in this case, it's well known anti-heroes were big in the 90s, and also that the 90s was before comics being mainstream aka normie
