>all ten issues of Kid Komics are public domain
>includes a two issue superhero with unused potential
>Public domain superhero community ignores everything it

Found out about this gem from those two recent topics about a bunch of Marvel's old shit failing to renew copyright which included this on the list that was posted. No sure how that last thread became kaijufags wetting themselves over Kirby monster technicalities, there's a big ass treasure trove of random shit in that list.

Well? Redpill me on him, what's so cool about Kid Komic or whatever his name is that it's such a missed opportunity that no one's using him?

His nemesis is a reporter themed supervillain, not even kidding. Modern day he'd be tackling Alex Jones.

There was a Bond movie with that premise. Could be interesting.

It's less about dying to see it and more like PD guys missed a spot and likely more spots. The Public Domain Super Hero Wiki could double their articles with what was uncovered. You'd think they'd be all over this, gotta get the word out somehow. Plus I think /pol/lacks would flock to it given the spicy caricatures.

Ah, Tomorrow Never Dies, that was a 90s classic.

High chance Grogg is a lost cause, but Gargantus maybe not so much. Also

>Captain Wonder showed up in The Twelve with other obscure Golden Age heroes at Marvel

Not saying you're wrong, just saying you need a good case.

As a Warhammer fag there is a loophole with this guy you could get away with. Third party miniatures are common in tabletop gaming, one very successful line is Major Minis which takes 40k characters and makes them distinct enough to not be conflicting with actual GW products. It seems like you can keep the design elements of this guy as long as you give him a generic name like "Fish Titan" or "Big Merman" and you stay far the fuck away from comic accurate colors.

Maybe not?

>Keep wings stubby
>Make him untamed and unfriendly to humans
>Keep him in Russia
>No Mongolians like in his debut
>Send his ass to Mars
>Use a different name and colors, make sure his trunks are not purple

There's quite a few characters that aren't on there. Everything Amos n' Andy pre-1948 is in the public domain, alongside the first movie and the cartoons, I dunno if they're concerned about their baggage but they do have the furry versions

This isn't potential. This is your moron ass seeing the words public domain and think it's an excuse to skip the creative part yourself. You know why this shit is in the public domain in the first place? Because a lot of people smarter and better with money and business than you are didn't see a damn cent in them. You are not gonna take something these people passed on and turn it into something brilliant. You're an idiot.

Ignoring his debut and Monsters on the Prowl he's been in the Super Hero Squad comic line, fought alongside SHIELD, help the Fantastic Four a d Iron Man, and failed in a dog pile against X-Men character Dooo. Sorry anon, but no, Marvel actually remembers Grogg. At Gargantus got mostly cameos (and how big is Esla Bloodstone's dungeon to hold a 200 foot monster?).

Captain Marvel and Plastic Man entered the public domain out of incompetence.
John Carter was forgotten thanks to the right holders.

That is interesting. I did some research myself a few years back and made a thread here, you can find books of copyright filings for the given years on the Internet Archive. There are periodical sections broken down by publisher that lists each publication that was renewed. When you go to Marvel there is nothing there and it just directs you to see the library of congress for more information. Looks like that's what this DA poster found. So basically without going to the LoC you can't confirm or deny the copyright status of any of this stuff.

You realize that most Golden Age characters are slop, right? Marvel barely acknowledges their 40s heroes and DC only made the JSA a thing because those characters were the foundation for the silver age justice league.

Better question: How the fuck did Elektra and Deadpool beat him and fourteen other monsters when this guy alone survived asphyxiation, electrocution, and a bunch of missiles? What were those two packing?

Gargantus was shrunk down, maybe Pym particles squished him in there? I remember Godzilla having a cameo in an Avengers issue in the late 00s.
