They never did. For god's sake their first production BEFORE Mickey Mouse was created is the Alice Comedies. A show that is Amphibia BEFORE the creator of Amphibia was born, a show about a human girl who goes to a world of cartoony animals.
Disney has ALWAYS been for girls. The only boys who like Disney are extremely young like toddlers. And it doesn't take long for boys to quickly outgrow Disney's feminine soft inoffensive lame trash media because Disney is the most unmasculine company ever.
Disney may have made history expanding the reach animation has in terms of technological details like bringing sound, color, theatrical productions eventually but their media is not something that entertains boys and men by and large. Accept it. Disney is for girls until they die. Anime delivers more cool violence that boys want to see.

That was a fluke and you know it. Besides only the first film was decent. The sequels made Elizabeth the Mary Sue Queen of the Pirates who every single veteran pirate lord needed to obey her because typical shitty Feminism.
And Jack kept being written more and more as a bumbling idiot without common sense. The series is mostly unwatchable shit. The best that happened was Disney got into a fight with Depp so that he refuses to return to the franchise. Any reboot attempt will only ensure failure for this brand. Though I encourage Disney to try so that they lose millions more.
