In this exact same setting near broke purse snatchers and losers can afford to buy supervillain gadgets like wrist mounted helicopter blades and power armors from Tinkerer.

If Ringer, Beetle, Grim Reaper, Stinger, Jack-O-Lantern, and Stilt Man can afford gadgets and armors, then JJ can afford a robot.

they can't actually afford those things though which is why they go into debt paying them off and being stuck in a perpetual loop of heists and robberies

Super gadgettry has to be cheaper on 616, otherwise bank heist would never pay for all of this stuff.

Dying art, dying industry, something that you grew up knowing existed forever but suddenly dies out, like living through history or witnessing the death of a species

Do you think JJJ would hound Tony for suits of armor when he could? Feels like he always gets a huge kick out using these robots. Maybe he'd rather get an Iron Man suit that'd be used through a remote control.
Now that makes me want to make a meme of boomer JJJ sipping down some coffee, smoking a huge cigar and wearing some sunglasses as he rides on the shoulder of his spider-slayer like that lawn mower boomer wojak. Maybe he'd install a huge camera in it as well to take any pics he could of Spidey.

The rise of the internet opened up competition that lacked the required overhead, was cheaper, more convenient to access, and compartmentalized to reader taste. Social media allowed people to get direct information from primary sources on events as they were happening.

stealthy klansman infiltrates a group of juvenile superheroes
>>149271323 (OP)
He spent his early career pursuing Ku Klux Klan.
It's safe to assume he's in in certain circles.

It also explains why he hates spider-man so much. Heroic masked figures that punish evildoers trouble him greatly.

I know youre baiting, but JJJ hates Spider-Man because his concealed identity means he can get away with anything without accountability, and his wife was killed by a masker goon who was never found because the police couldn't figure out his real identity

I think those guys steal a lot of their equipment.
They cycle is
>Have a crazy invention
>Nobody wants to give you a loan to develop it
>steal either funds or material to create crazy invention
>Get caught by local hero, go to jail
>now be motivated by revenge against the hero.
Sometimes there is a partner who stole your invention that you need to get vengeance on too but the basic steps are the same.

I fell like when people talk about how "comics are dying" they should keep in mind that it's printed press and magazines that are dying in general. It's slow and agonizing, there are still audiences, but they get smaller with each year.

Stilt-Man was actually the asshole partner who stole the invention. Well, partially. He developed the stilts himself but he stole one of the inventions of his employer and tried to frame him. So he probably stole the funds to develop the whole Stilt-Man armor from him too.

Abner made the first goofy armor with the big 50s scifi B-Movie hands. Then Tinkerer made the second one from the 80s and after.
