man i miss Justice Friends. we've had so many shitty baby comedy parody superheroes since then, not one of them captured even a little of what made this work. particularly since they're always bad adaptations of serious comics, instead of this, with all OCs.... except White Tiger who is from Marvel I guess.

I miss it too. You could feel that Genndy was a big Marvel fan and that's one reason it and the other comic parodies on Dexter were so great. Like the whole Rasslor episode is basically a direct retelling of an old comic story (with Monkey in the role of The Thing).

I assumed White Tiger was a Black Panther parody, though White Tiger just acts like an actual cat. There are actual characters named White Tiger too though, so maybe they inspired him too.

I think it works because sure they are based on the avengers but are different enough that they become their own thing. They are not paroding Captain America they just take the idea of a patriotic hero and make their own spin to it.

Yeah that sounds about right. They took the character concepts but twisted them enough to be their own thing. Valhallen is inspired by Thor obviously, but the whole Viking God of Rock thing is more interesting than just doing a more direct parody.
