On the one hand, I do agree that I want Spider-Man in - at least - a good approximation of his classic costume. Likewise Superman, the Flash, etc. But on the other hand, Green Arrow's classic costume is stupid and the modernization attempts, whether we talk Nu52 comics, or Smallville or Arrow, are just more annoying and stupid than anything else. They are just OC Rando's under the classic name of a comic book character at that point.

Likewise, for many villains, it's not just the classic costumes that should be abandoned but their characteristics (e.g. Victor Freeze, King Shark, etc.) that should both go.

Maybe, but the aesthetic is all about how sleeked and futuristic it is so I'm not sure if the rust(and thus old, shoddy) connection works. Once tech is advanced enough you can start thinking about aesthetics and not just engineering which leads to things like bright red cars
Ditko's Iron Man is dated now, but as a metal armor design it's pretty ground breaking for what it is when so many metal/armored characters were these big, lumbering tanks in greys and blacks.

I like grim and evil characters depending but Carnage/Cletus Kassidy genuinely has nothing else going for him beyond being a massive murderer who's over the top.
