So just because Gaiman fucked a few groupies we are meant to not read his prolific writing any more?

The only way you'll get me to believe any of these kinds of allegations any more, particularly after the Warren Ellis and Chris Avellone debacles, is if the first thing I hear about it is the person being arrested because you went to the police to make your allegations and they were found credible. Not from you talking to a journalist or posting on social media. Anybody can do that to accuse anyone of anything.

Throughout human history men have been driven by one desire game resources strength and intelligence to gain females, yet nowadays that is seen as evil and wrong. If you are a successful man in your fifties you have to only date women who are equal to your age even though you are successful and in a good position financially this is The madness of a civilization dying

Don't care. Gaiman's a good writer. Good Omens, however, was better as a show since the book was mostly from Adam's perspective, so not at all interesting. Dude also fucked up on replacing Pestilence with Pollution as a Horseman, since not long after the Coof heralded the biggest fucking robbery on the Earth.

I'm confident in my being a dude, but the moon bit was petty funny.
What I don't care for is the book I read for Dream and those around him taken over for an entire arc by a halfbaked death of childhood theme and a halfbaked lesbians are sad and witches plotline that goes nowhere.
Like you might of been able to make something out of it if you just did one, but having half the fucking story and all characters within only become barely relevant at the very end after dicking around with them, you get a bad arc.

It might just be that I only read it as a completed work but I came to the book for Dream and don't appreciate what should of just been its own mini series taking up space.

this, though, is bullshit
people's first reaction to art is the most genuine, and you don't get to backtrack on it the moment it's revealed the artist is not a good person
gaiman is both a talented artist, and a monster, and it 's possible to both appreciate his work while acknowledging that it's a good thing his career is over

you can say that companies who work with these people should just say "we're hitting the pause button until things are settled," but if a case is incredibly damning, sperging out at random people for putting two and two together is a little weird
in the depp v heard trial, for instance, it became very clear depp was innocent early in the trial. are you also sperging out at people putting two and two together before a verdict was reached?

I will, once they are dead and consuming that art doesn't support them in any way shape or form.

To consume in almost any way is to support and provide for. Once death comes, then I can do so. It's like how I have no plans to rewatch Ghost Dad until Cosby is dead. Then again, I never had plans to rewatch Ghost Dad, but you get the point. I'll never stop saying Gaiman's work is some of the best, but I'll only read it again once he's in the ground.

>but what about piracy?
They only way to consume without support, but it does not support the other people who contributed to his comics.

The reason he's not in prison, on criminal trial, or even in civil court is because they lack any substantial evidence of the relationships being anything other than consensual. One of two of the women did go to the police and Gaiman was able to provide receipts on their interactions, enough so that they saw nothing criminal. I not saying he's never done anything questionable but the allegations or accusations against him should not enough to sour one's perception of his work. All of this started from an angry podcaster he got into a twitter argument with btw.

yeah. I just refreshed my memory from looking at the section of the sexual abuse allegations on his wikipedia article. One woman did file a civil suit but it's a blatant money grab and an attempt to get around the investigation they did on him in New Zealand where they found nothing incriminating. There's some older suit that settled and had an NDA which one of the women broke. I actually lean more toward believing Gaiman who maintains that he never sexually assaulted anyone, but could have made better decisions. Any adult person, man or woman, who's been sexually active for years will have some spotty moments when pursuing or engaging in sex, that's just the nature of the act, it doesn't make you a criminal though.

1. You can do whatever the fuck you like
2. You can continue to read and like his work if you want.
3. If you already own his work, you don't have to burn it.
4. You can separate the art from the artist if you want.
5. If the whole issue matters to you and you still want to read his work but don't have his work, you can pirate or buy it secondhand to not give him value.
Bottom line is, do whatever the fuck you want.

Most of his allegations are entirely believable. The thing is that even if those women are telling the truth, he didn't anything wrong beyond basic promiscuity. IIRC, the first accuser's story was that she gave him oral sex because he was her landlord. She "felt" that she'd be evicted if she stopped giving him oral sex, but she never discussed that with him so that wasn't even their agreement. Even if it was, worst case scenario, he bought a prostitute. Womp womp, but at point, we're making shit up the "victim" didn't even accuse herself.

If you can attract women by having those things, that's still not against any rule. It's using those things to coerce women into sex with you when they don't want it that's the problem, or using your resources or intelligence to get away with it. If you can't see the difference between "use money to attract women by buying clothes that look good on you, a nice car, a good haircut, getting her gifts" and "use your money to hire a babysitter, invite her to take a bath in the yard, then climb into the bath with her without warning, and start fucking her, then use your feminist reputation to avoid scrutiny" you're an absolute freak who needs to figure out yourself before going near any member of any sex you're attracted to.

It's strange that you're singling out A Game Of You given that a huge amount of Sandman has Dream as being only tangentially present.

The first storyarc with him getting his three treasures back; Season of Mists; Brief Lives; and Kindly Ones are the only storylines that are actually about Dream. Doll's House, World's End, The Wake, and that weird filler section after Game of You are almost all not about Dream at all.

Doll's House still had a ton of involvement from Dream and the rest of his cast of characters.
World's End is one I dislike outside of the one story which serves as foreshadowing for the ending. I like the stories as individual things but there was no need for the Kid President to be part of the main book.
The Wake is the epilogue to the book and is all about Dream's death.
And I already gave my thoughts about A Game of You.
Again I said that like 60% of Sandman was good, I just singled out A Game of You because if was an absolute slog.

Are we supposed to care they're weirdoes? It was obvious. It's like being surprised that rockstars fucked 14-year old groupies, they all did it.
It's just such a non-thing to care about. It was bad, it happened, nobody cared before because it was inconvenient to. NOW we're supposed to care? When the people involved are almost dead and those cultures are long finished?

You can enjoy people's creative contributions without having to respect them as people or like them as humans. I've not paid for anything related to Gaiman, ever, or to others who would fall under a similar purview - but then again, I have certainly paid for admission tickets to a fair certain number of tickets of Miramax movies, as just one example (although they are vastly a group project, contributed to by any number of people).
Interestingly, the first episode of the new second season of the Sandman got me wanting to see what role if any the Fates had played in the first season, since I couldn't really remember them, which got me to re-watch Calliope and a line there, particularly the lines from Eramus Fry, really ring differently.
I didn't remember the scene with the Fates at all, which tells me how much impact they made a year plus ago when that first dropped!

hey anon, if you are in a bath tub, would you let a man walk up, strip naked, get in the bathtub with you, then let him finger your asshole?

if so, and you think that's rape, you like being raped, and you consent to rape
