I've not paid for anything related to Gaiman, ever, or to others who would fall under a similar purview - but then again, I have certainly paid for admission tickets to a fair certain number of tickets of Miramax movies, as just one example (although they are vastly a group project, contributed to by any number of people).
Interestingly, the first episode of the new second season of the Sandman got me wanting to see what role if any the Fates had played in the first season, since I couldn't really remember them, which got me to re-watch Calliope and a line there, particularly the lines from Eramus Fry, really ring differently.
I didn't remember the scene with the Fates at all, which tells me how much impact they made a year plus ago when that first dropped!
