How about she starts off with plundering a tomb and got cursed. While at first she view the transformation and powers as a boon, the further it goes into the story the less human her transformations become, and it becomes harder and takes longer to return to human form. And even then some parts of her are still cheetah-like. So she deduces that if she doesn’t do anything fast, she’ll be stuck as a werecat forever, or worse become an actual cheetah. Unfortunately she plundered so many ancient mystical tombs thanks to her condition, that she doesn’t have the time to research and find a new one that could perhaps cure her affliction. So towards the end of the mini series she decides to invade the one place on earth where magic is known to exist… Themyscyra.
