Cool personality, cool powers, cool costume

Is Shocker the actual GOAT villain in all of comics?

Everyone does that shit. It is a fast way to try and demoralize someone.

I remember constantly seeing people calling Shocker "Quilt man" or any variation of bedding-based names and I really have no idea why. What part of his costume implies bedding?

It's quilted insulation, which protects him from the gauntlet, which would otherwise shatter his hand

He could have adopted it in a haphazard fashion just for the arms, like a landsknecht. After all he's Herman

Digging shockerpool at bottom right. The bespectacled narrow eyes work for a science focused poindexter supersomething.

I've got to say, I've never seen why people find Shocker's outfit more ridiculous than anyone else in Spider-Man's rogue's gallery.
Also, when did they decide to start portraying him as a joke character?

My main issue is how the pattern in his suit is similar to the one of his enemy. But other than that, it's a good costume

Late 80s early 90s is when he started to get a little personality shift from just a regular old villain. I wanna say deadly foes mini? I could be wrong but thatโ€™s where Herms severe anxiety problems are mentioned and you see his other side just a tad. JMS really fleshed him out more during civil war era of marvel and thatโ€™s where he fully shifts to shocker today. Superior Foes for some reason is just when people started to notice his slight goofiness more.

With how serious Silvermane was played in TAS for the most part, finding out that he is a complete joke in the comics was kind of jarring.
