So am I weird? I love Superman he is my all time favorite but I just do not give a fuck about all star Superman like that. It’s not bad to me I just rather read something else like the time and time again story from the 90s. It becomes a chore to read for me halfway through.

What's wrong with it from you POV? Not enough action? Is superman acting OOC from you perspective? The dialogue?

No, All Star Superman is good, but it's not the be all end all.
There are plenty of Superman comics I prefer to it, and reasonable reasons to not love All Star Supes.

I mostly agree.. Try as I might I’m just not fond of Silver Age Superman in general. Post-Crisis onward , especially the 90s, is my favorite version overall.

Like most comics, All Star Superman is considered great because of its concept really. Superman is dying, how does he spend his last days? It's not perfectly executed, there are some issues, but most people just ignore the problems. I do think All Star Superman is the GOAT, but I can see why someone wouldn't like it.

Every 90s Superman comic I've read has been boring. Which are the good ones?

I'm a Superman fan too and this isn't a story I re-read or am partial too. I like the way the colors have a pop to them though.

>Kal-El: "Dad, is that you?"
>Jor-El: "Kinda sorta, you're dying. Now, do you want to stay dead or do you want to come back to life and save the Earth?"
>Kal-El: "I'll come back to life and save the Earth!"
Wow, what a tough choice for Superman.

As others have said your response to it may depend partly on how much you do or don’t prefer Silver Age Superman and the tropes and characterization associated with that era.

The concept behind it is really to do Silver Age Superman comics in a modern, sophisticated style, and without most of the Superdickery.

I don't get the big deal about this story. Superman is too fucking nice in this to the point of being unnatural. I liked DCAU JL Superman better when they gave him some anger issues.

You're allowed to have your own personal tastes, anon.

I love All Star. For All Seasons is a slough for me. I do not begrudge those who think different.

He socks Luthor in the jaw AFTER Luthor loses his power. Give it another read.

I like triangle era. That said I think it's best if you're engaged in it as an ongoing than individual stories. I just think the cast and writing was the most solid in those years.
Do you have any favorite Superman stories?

The best story is the one where the fan of Superman becomes Superman and I remember ppl were running with the conspiracy that that is superboy prime if the dumb shit didn’t happen

It's basically a conceptual reworking of Superboy Prime. This was before he got brought back and was still just a character who was left on the edge of the universe at the end of Crisis.

It feels like Grant Morrison doing a "greatest hits" of classic Superman moments, but all the big moments in All-Star Superman were done better in other Superman stories. Jonathan Kent's death in Superman The Movie is so quietly and powerfully done, whereas in All-Star it happens while Superman is engaged in some silly Silver Age shit. The "twist" with Luthor towards the end was done better by Howard Chaykin in the 90's in his Son of Superman Elseworlds book.

Any other examples?
Fun fact: Chaykin loved it despite hating Morrison.

ASS is like the only good Superman comic in existence.
