It's not a historical film.

How does one make a 100% accurate ancient Egypt depiction in film? Who has met and spoken to some ancient Egyptians to know how they played out?

Jews were never slaves in Egypt, the entire thing is a farce. But it's a good farce.

>Katzenberg in particular has attempted to create a Disney-killer in his animation division, which has four major releases planned over the next years: โ€œPrince of Egypt,โ€ โ€œAntz,โ€ โ€œShrekโ€ and โ€œEl Dorado: City of Goldโ€

>โ€œPrince of Egypt,โ€ first out of the block in November 1998, features the voices of Val Kilmer, Ralph Fiennes, Steve Martin and Martin Short. The $70 million pic, which tells the story of Moses, is said to be non-religious. Katzenberg, however, covered his bets from every angle by screening it for major religious leaders throughout the world. Sources say their response has been positively beatific.

>According to those close to the film, Katzenberg is also taking executive producer credit โ€” something he never did on the animated features that he oversaw at Disney

Ah, right, everyone must behave as American as possible, otherwise it's a stereotype.

El Dorado is easily the most flawed of the four movies before Shrek

I did, and all he had to say about this scene was "Foot Bird Snake Pot Squiggle Squiggle".

So you know it's bad.

The overwhelming consensus of historians is that there's no historical basis to the Israelite narrative of Exodus. Rather it's a mythology cobbled together from experiences of other tribes and peoples that they traded with or conquered to create a convenient religious narrative.

The bible is a mythology compendium, not a history book. It has historical references but that does not make it history, it would be like saying we can consider Spider-Man comics historical because New York is depicted accurately aside the fictional elements and that there were issues about real events like 9/11 or Obama's inauguration.

I admire Katzenberg for being experimental, but going from Prince of Egypt to this innocuous movie still felt a bit weird
