Lex hasn't been fat in the comics since like the 80s at the latest.
This one is a lot more accurate to the comics than snyder version so I'll give it that credit. Kept the whacky scifi scientist part, the look, the way of talking how Superman is beneath him rather than above him.
Though both of them were based on Lex in Superman Birthright, so they're more Elon Musk type spergs than suave deep voiced Hellenes. Though not everyone's favourite interpretation that is comic accurate still, often he's written as a sperging nut rather than suave and in control.
