>>149330688I feel like the problem with indie kickstarter space shows inspired by SU is that they want to capitalize on how Steven Universe never really delivered in the space adventure side of things but newsflash, sci-fi adventure shows don't really do all that well anymore. They struggle to maintain a popular following, and the ones that do become successful are really more grounded than anything else: think about how often Rick and Morty or Futurama have plots that either taken place on Earth or involve settings in space that heavily resemble Earth. Sci-fantasy pretty much dominates the space adventure scene, which is why it's the only genre that does big numbers (40k, Star Wars, etc).
Actual sci-fi space adventure is only something Japan really bothers to care about, but it also still is rarer than sci-fantasy or fantasy.
