i don't know why the final few season sucked so much shaft. Its like nobody wanted to be with Rusty.
>Samson is forced to give up his job with both the agency and being a body guard
>Dean fucks off to the city to get away from him
>Hank follows Brock to join SPHINX
>Monarch loses everything imcluding almost Dr. Monarch's Wife and his status as a villain
>even starts masquareding as an Anti hero
>meanwhile Rusty is just... there. And worse just seething about gis more successful brother
Why did they deviate so much?

Would you have preferred a Rick & Morty approach where everything stays the same while stringing the audience along with promises of character development and plot progression?

All of this shit happened in different seasons. One of us is confused and I'm not entirely certain that it's me.

how soon we forget about Vatred. I do think the writers were at a loss for what to do with doc after gargantua II, but he gets his moments. "it happening one night" and "party for tarzan" are chock full of rusty goodness. not to mention his speech in season 7 to the OSI & Guild, which is where his character peaks imo

Season 6 felt burdened by the new status quo shift, like Doc and Jackson didn't really think it through all the way before committing to it in Gargantua II (which knowing their writing methods is probably true). Like with benching Vatred and bringing Brock back to the team, it feels like they gave up on giving him new stuff to do and brought Brock back because he's more popular. The Blue Morpho plot is pretty strong but that's just about all the season had going for it, Season 7 though they hit their stride again and it really improves everyone overall

I still find it amazing that the seasons which /co/ complains "sucked" are still leagues above other animated shows.
Venture Bros isn't perfect, some episodes drag and are boring but the quality never falters in animation/music/backgrounds.

That's the beauty of VB in that even when the show is "bad" it's still a 6/10 minimum

Honestly I don’t think the show had an overall decline (s5 will always be the weakest)

It’s just that 2s to s4 are genuinely some of the best seasons of television and it’s hard to compete with them

The show made it so being pretty damn good instead of amazing read like a disappointment

It’s less “the new stuff is so bad now” and more “the first few seasons were peak television”

I actually liked the Blue Viceroy sideplot but then, I'm a green hornet fan too. I didn't care for Dean's moody attitude though. It wasn't "character development" its like he became a new person altogether.

I mean in a way that was kind of the idea, Dean lost Trianna because he never grew up combined with finding out he's a clone destroyed his sense of self. S5 was about him trying to become who he "wants" to be, only to circle around and realize it was futile and he was happier how he was

Yeah. I see your point. I just felt bummed out whenever he was the focus. And the noticeable lack of "go team venture" really was glaring.

I remember we had some fun discussion about what the Venture universe’s equivalent of Saiyans/DB characters would be like a few weeks/months back. It got me thinking about how well a Transformers parody would fit into the setting, especially since there’s already a whole G.I. Joe angle going on with OSI.

Is it that hard to understand why people don't want to spend time with a miserable cunt? I don't particularly like coming of age stories but I think that is what they were going for, Hank and Dean are going through that shitty teenage phase where you are unhappy with everything and wanted space from Rusty. Rusty acts like he wants to be alone but when faced with the boys and Brock being gone he is stuck with Vatred who is no ones choice.

That's what the ending of that storyline was to me, them realizing they are family and would he happier together than apart, despite their differences and own personal wants. Life is not always the status quo and deviates whether you want it to or not

I felt a little deflated by the last two seasons and thought it was just me
The new york setting change didn't add much that I really liked, like blue morpho was cool but the rest wasn't as interesting as previous seasons to me
I don't mind changing dynamics like with hatred coming and brock leaving and emo dean, but the new york seasons were missing something.
Maybe it was hatred becoming sidelined, maybe it was triad's reduced presence, maybe it was the jonas reveal (I think I'm in the minority on this but making him pretty definitively evil was a bad call i m o, he was better as a shitty dad and friend).
Also the red death wank was a bit much, somewhat connected to that I feel as monarch's character slid too much and he became like 24, too nerdy.
It wasn't terrible and I liked it (and the movie too, that was good, better than the s6 and 7, honestly), but it wasn't as good as previous seasons.
Also fuck anyone that says s1 or 2 aren't worth watching; seen that opinion come up too much

What I felt was kinda weird was the idea that Hank was ready for "the real world", while Dean was because he was going to college and shit. Whatever that means in a world where there was apparently a second American revolution (that was invisible).

They were definitely planning on it based on several artbook sketches that showed her as a man, but they abandoned that because I think they liked her as a real woman better. I'm wondering if the suits were badgering them for "trans rep" so they put in that OSI agent storyline in so they wouldn't have to sacrifice Dr G. Seriously, what was that? Their first appearance was amusing but that's all it needed to be, and even the punchline of "yes, I'm a woman" wasn't great because we're used to women having man voices on this show.

Well Hank often shirked his bed education while Dean absorbed that shit. Hank was always gonna take after Brock but due to being Rusty's spawn he was physically behind.

The side characters started being more entertaining than the Venture family. Before the brothers, Dr. Venture, Helper and Brock felt great and had amazing chemistry. But after... season 3? All the side characters took the stage. Orpheus, White, Billy. Hatred, Monarch, 21. While everyone else took a backseat

Not wanting to be with Rusty is part of the show, i'm okay with that
what didn't work so well, to me at least, was how he was running the company badly but not badly in a way that's funny.. you genuinely do hate what JJ was doing with it, all that iphone bullshit, and you're kinda sympathetic to Doc, but he's also being way shittier than usual, given that he's finally gotten his dream... and like, that thing about "We can't invent teleporters because we won't keep pouring money into Hammud's mouth" was fucking ~irritating~ and profoundly unsatisfying. The whole thing in the show is "jetpacks and ray guns were invented, but they're impractical so the world refused to change" so... let him have a fucking W, or write in some way that it doesn't work, or something that makes it too dangerous. don't have our government supporting our dependence on oil. that's absolutely backwards.

I feel like Rick and Morty (all SIX seasons of Rick and Morty) were building plot at a very steady rate that I liked, and it's too bad it ended because I would have liked to see them have exactly one last season, and tied it up.

I used to think Wide Whale was meant to be a stand in for Kingpin. But honest it could also be Tobias Whale. This show had a few deep cuts in terms of comic references. Dr. Strange wasn't nearly as known as well as he is now but they went with Orpheus like no one's buisiness.
