This guy perplexes me because he’s honest to god so extremely talented at animation, and shows major proficiency in it for someone independent, but because he decided to closely associate his main character with a different artist’s bizarre inflation art, the entire thing is tainted.
It’s crazy, in his clips and animatics he’s clearly capable of designing Disney style furry animal characters, he legitimately could’ve made Benny any other animal or changed the design ever so slightly and nobody would’ve been any the wiser. But he just…didn’t. And now the only thing people bring up here about his otherwise totally innocent and family-friendly cartoon is the fact that it’s based on weird inflation art. It would’ve been so easy to change and so easy to not have this conversation in the first place. He could’ve just made Benny a cat or a fox or something instead. But he just HAD to be a dingo in a red sweater just like the inflation character. Unbelievable. Never have I seen such decent talent mixed with such blatant lack of self awareness.

Benny could've still been a dingo. Just make it look different. There's infinite ways to design a dingo character. I actually can't think of any dingo cartoon characters off the top of my head so there was a lot of room and opportunity to do something unique and memorable.

A frustrating point I haven't seen anyone else bring up is how Camtoonist doesn't know anything about 4chan, its reputation or the consequences of posting here. He commented on youtube the other day that he thought the comics and cartoons board is the whole 4chan website (how the fuck did he even find this place?) and he doesn't believe anyone outside 4chan will care that he actively posts here. I was going through his desu history and he called someone a faggot in 2024. Under his real name. Maybe that wasn't actually him, but he never used a trip when posting and has copypasted his arguments from 4chan onto youtube confirming he uses the same name, so there's no way of proving which posts are or aren't him. He was given an out to say he's being impersonated by dang dirty trolls and he didn't take it, Cameron tripled down that he isn't, and how he's not doing anything wrong since he's never heard anything bad about 4chan and other websites have bad content too.

Cameron planted the seeds of his own future cancelation by continuing to argue with anons and make compromising posts here. For what? What has he gained? He got his childhood inspiration GreyOfPTA labeled a pedophile groomer and made himself look ridiculously unprofessional. I'm closer to the vidya industry than the cartoon industry, but I know studios often take into account how easy you are to work with and how well you take criticism when approving your project. Sperging out and slinging slurs wouldn't matter if he was going for a edgy web audience, but he's making a wholesome slice of life family pilot for a network and hiring VAs who put pronouns and disabilities in bio. Cameron calls himself "industry savvy" while having optics like this and he refuses to listen to anons who've been here a decade longer than him as if he knows better, when he's at greater than "who is this four chan" levels of ignorance.

His first promotion thread was a mistake. Still posting here 2 years later is self-sabotage.

It can honestly be a bit hard to hire people who aren't into the pronun shit. I was looking for voice actors and over 80% who applied had pronouns in bio. My cartoon didn't have a lick of gay stuff not that I have a problem with gay shit, I'm gay myself, I just hate tranny stuff and poorly written gay characters.
I really avoid hiring them when possible but sometimes they have the right skills.
