I genuinely hate the promotional poster of Hoppers. The stupid bitch looks obnoxious in it. Its like she is making an irritating face as if it says...

"I'm going to be the most annoying Pixar protagonist and no one can stop me!"

With the scientist woman chasing after her. That alone is why I will not watch this shit. Doesn't help that the main female is an annoying nature activist bitch. The whole "Animals role play their roles in nature intentionally so when a herbivore gets killed an eaten its because the herbivore knowingly wanted it to happen" is also way too stupid even for fiction.

Hoppers is simply a very stupid concept. And it doesn't help they chose an animal that is considered unpopular to be the robot. Beavers aren't cool compared to foxes and wolves and tigers.

This is what will kill the story of this movie. Not even things like Lion King which showed herbivores and carnivores being friends was this idiotic.

Will never understand how Cameron's Avatar even became popular. Hey everyone give up human technology to be an ugly lanky blue alien freak and live like a racist stereotype of an American Indian and be eternally at the mercy of an alien planet who can kill you on a whim. That sounds horrible.

And I hate how it depicts humans as if they were bad when the humans were being diplomatic with those bastard aliens. The only human turns into an alien movie I liked was District Nine. Cameron's Avatar is shit.

crazy how bad "the fall" era of Pixar is. I feel like the more they focus on human protagonists and realistic worlds, the worse it gets

It was just a roller coaster ride basically, a movie that got popular because of the FX. Everyone I knew went to see it in IMAX.
Watching it on your laptop or TV unless you've got a full home theatre setup won't re-create that, so anyone that watches it now starts noticing how bad everything else is.

You have to understand Pixar relied on Non Humans for many years because the CG tech was not there. Even then making good looking humans with old CG was costly especially for a full theatrical production.

The problem is that by now the tech is able to do humans and the cost isn't really grandiose. So where does that leave Pixar? It leaves them with competition in that they have to step up and make actual human narratives and stories that entertain audiences and sadly they cannot do this very well because if we're honest Pixar has never had the best writers. They mostly rode gimmicks. And even if humans existed in stuff like Ratatouille its clear the cartoony rat is the main draw of the story.

Pixar has always been terrible at human narratives with human main characters. It's why I've honestly never liked The Incredibles. Such a boring and lackluster movie. So a super hero man is going through a midlife crisis and he's willing to work for a criminal which endangers his family? Am I supposed to like this bastard? You would think that because he's a super hero he would figure out his employer was a criminal. And while he did figure it out it was far too late in the scheme at that point. The damage was done.

But the sequel was a billion dollar success. Basically no one has learned their lesson and kept buying into more of Cameron Avatar's shit. I hate how successful that movie series is. Its one of the most annoying virtue signaling liberal trash heaps. Doesn't help Cameron said before releasing Avatar 2 that "Testosterone is evil and must be destroyed from all men!" I wonder if he used his testosterone to rape a woman, I mean he is a scumbag who works in Hollywood. As such I have to assume Cameron is both a piece of shit woman and child rapist by default.

I disagree, Up is actively bad. It manipulates the audience as hard as possible in the first 10 minutes just to deliver a slog with no engaging characters or story afterwards. Not just a bad Pixar movie, but a bad movie in general. Would rather watch the Cars trilogy than that shit.

Up is indeed bad. The first ten minutes are blatantly emotionally manipulative fluff and yet the actual story of the movie is showing how an old man who is also overweight can inexplicably go on a physically demanding mountain climbing adventure. That's nonsense even for fiction. Realistically speaking Carl would stand no chance in the wilderness. He wasn't like his hero who was a senior citizen but one who specialized in physical activity all his life. And then you got stupid ideas like the talking dogs who can pilot airplanes. Its just a bad stupid concept altogether.

as I was just saying in a thread about the one in Aristocats
because Tojo had a very bizarre, un-asian face, but was such a public figure who got a lot of attention, he became the face of asians in cartoons for -ages-
it doesn't help that it's harder to depict the specific phenotypes of a race that is... just basically very subtle and flattened. nothing sticky outy or super obvious to depict. Cartoons always had to reach.
