Nintendo has just registered a trademark for a Donkey Kong movie seemingly confirming an animated DK movie is in production

This could be fun as fuck if Nintendo loosens the restrictions just a little bit compared to what they allowed for the Mario movie. I don't exactly have high hopes they'll do that though.

Donkey Kong is mostly famous for impressive graphics during the Super Nintendo and excellent music. Even the DK cartoon had catchy songs. But that does not translate well into a theatrical movie. Movies need characters that can make a splash meaning the audience wants to see the character because the character itself is a big deal. This is what I feel DK has become in modern day:

They did NOT shy away from words like "death", "die", or "kill". I'm old enough to remember when you absolutely couldn't get away with saying those words in a cartoon.
