This idea online that Diana should be a bulky musclegirl is something I must reject with a level of fervor that eclipses anything I've ever felt involving more obvious sacred cows of comics, like people who want to get rid of Batman's no-kill policy. It's even more revolting when they outright say she should have a "masculine physique", or try to convince you that this interpretation is more legitimate "because she's an Amazon".

She's a magical being, she doesn't need giant muscles for her strength any more than she needs a suit of power armor. Diana ought to be beautiful, and fitness is strongly correlated with beauty, but she shouldn't look like she's juicing. Where do you think the line falls, Anon? How much muscle is too much for you?

She's enhanced by magic so she doesn't really NEED big muscles.
I liked Wonder Woman in The New Frontier, she was big but not bulging with muscles.

OP's picrel is a little too much bulk for my perfect Diana but tone it down 2 levels and that's my stuff. I don't want a matcha latte sipping bimbo twig to be my elite amazonian warrior, sure she's enhanced by magic but she still lives for battle meaning she's trained since she could walk and that oughta build muscle. If you want a petite scrawny type why not supergirl? Her powers come from the sun and the plot just by existing so she doesn't need to train at all plus she's got that relaxed happy personality so she probably only trains if it's something fun like racing or whatnot

I'm not a big Wonder Woman fan, but I fully agree. It's really disgusting how so much of modern discourse about the character is warped around stilted views of heroines needing to be as un-feminine as possible, right down to their physiques. Personally, Diana should never be more bulky than an 80s fitness model.

Yes. His powers aren't magic-based, but his physiology reacting to Earth's sunlight. He shouldn't be bodybuilder huge, but he should at least be as built as someone who engages in regular exercise.

She's a supernatural, explicitly made to be the "perfect woman" character made by a guy who regularly dominated two women in the bedroom and who explicitly wanted her to be someone who showed you could win and make a difference without needing grotesque displays of power, and women don't naturally bulk like tumblr wishes they would anyway, so you're objectively right, she shouldn't be bulky, toned or moderately defined at absolute most.

Superman admittedly has been doing shit like "He weightlifted with the tractor as a teen" for a few decades now, presenting the idea that Clark wants a masculine bulk and definition and was willing and able to find more shit to lift and push him as he aged and his powers grew, so I'd say so, but I'd actually also say that unless his powers maintain his relative mass without letting it backslide that unless he got the fortress early he should probably start out a bit softer and less bulky than he would have been in his teens until he manages to find a way to push himself again.

Diana can, maybe should, look fit. But she should be beautiful and feminine - womanly - first.
Part of the reason why Wonder Woman was made was because her creator, William Moulton Marston, thought that in a world which otherwise shunned feminine traits as weak, girls would no longer want to be woman.
So Wonder Woman is a beautiful and feminine role model for girls and women, while also being super strong.

Yeah because Superman's supposed to be (in part) a big an imposing man. Also boys want to look buff in the same way girls want to look beautiful.
