Yeah as an insomniac it sucks pretty hard. I try to check during the day buy I'm either working or passed out. I get my chance to really hop on after dinner but by then all the good threads have already archived or hit bump limit

the other day we got raided by /a/ and they made like two threads and got like sixteen replies total

it's sad to see the death of /a/ in real-time, a mercy killing would be best

just merge anime with random, it'll be fine

The entire website has tanked badly after the hack once top boards are sliding badly. Even /v/ or /pol/ are tanking. Seeing as how the "owenrs" didnt change anything after the hack and tend to ignore it

Modern twitter/instagram/tiktok at least at this point have edgy content plus more of it without having to solve a captcha every time you make a simple comment. The hack just sped up the process of more realizing this.

Discord, Twitter, or Tiktok. You would be shocked with how normal 4chan tier opinions are there now. Combined with the fact no one knows the agenda of the mods/jannies with how bad they control things here.

You can tell they are scared shitless with how much they stripped back the email or captcha rules

Its strange since /a/ has actual moderation. This website was always kind of dead but now with the top boards dying its swirling down a drain
Anonymous
7/14/2025, 4:31:36 PM No.149392368
The two highest activity boards are /pol/ and /vg/. Even /a/ is slowing down. And the slower a board gets, the more obvious it is that a lot of threads are being started or kept on life support by what are either bots or a small number of dedicated shitposters who make the same threads over and over and necrobump from page 10 with an inane question that they don't even care about the answer to. Just low effort, low quality slop posts to keep the catalog full and create the *illusion* of activity to keep the site alive.

The simple fact is that the more that /pol/ has infected the site and defined its reputation, the worse the moderation has become because good moderation would have kept pol contained to pol. By embracing that identity, the site has become a worse user experience at a time when competition for online platforms has never been higher. And, when it comes right down to it, the '4chan quality' just isn't there anymore. Anyone who says now that 4chan posters are any better than reddit posters is fooling themselves, especially since we know that most people here use both sites so its pointless to pretend there is a difference.

Like a MMO in maintenence mode, 4chan can probably shamble along for another 10 years or so. Losing people over time, but the ones that are left are the ones that won't leave until either they die or the site does, and it costs them nothing to farm those people for adds.

Outside of "core" nerdy hobbies like video games /v/, live action media /tv/, comics/cartoons /co/, anime /a/, and table top games /tg/ the rest of the website is a ghost town when you look at it. So when these "core" boards are starting to get hit with low traffic then the issues shows its ugly head.

Pol shit is all over the social media people are using instead now. So many hitler or racist posts as memes and unironically. And reddit and its users are still infinitely worse than dead rotting 4chan or the worst BBC spammers on here. Your posts get deleted or hidden over the least offensive shit and the redditors pat themselves on the back after as if they won an argument or preserved anything of value. That is beyond echo chamber where you delete and censor even the people in your group who mostly agree with you. 4chan gets mogged by other social media but reddit gets mogged by pretty much anything because it's as low quality as it gets.

Dont call me a faggot but I honestly think the escapism of 4chan has been lost over the years. The doomposting and political fringe infected this place badly and its not like 4chan does doomscrolling properly when tiktok has it beat. We also lost in making any proper content when most of all boards are turned into twitter reposting session.

We became the internets dumping ground becasue the le 4chan hacker memes made all the normalfags shit up the place on purpose

2016 killed the site, the culture shit that happened when Fox News directed rightwing schizos here and promised they would be welcome threw everything out of whack and the site has been on a decline ever since.
I originally started coming here because of /tg/ back in its golden era around 2009, when it was a constant wellspring of new ideas, new art, new memes, and even entire new fanmade games that were /tg/ originals made by anons.
All of that creativity has been lost now. Quests were banned. Threads about funny game stories or cool worldbuilding ideas die in their cribs because everyone just accuses everyone else of being some content-farming bot for a youtube channel you've never heard of and are afraid of having their precious ideas 'stolen'. No one makes anything anymore, and the few times someone tries they get shouted down and derided for the attempt. Bumpfagging keeps threads on life support for weeks at a time, and the board is full of 1-sentence vague question OPs with only the thinnest illusion of being /tg/ relevant because they worked the words "In your setting" into the question. Which would be fine, except there is never any discussion in these threads: not even the OP ever responds to what people have to say in it. Its just an empty room to scream into and hear not even an echo back.
Despite this, /tg/ is currently around the 25% mark in terms of boards sorted by activity. 75% of 4chan is MORE dead than what I just described.
Its honestly depressing as fuck.

Its been brought up before, but it doesn't last long because the mods have a tendency to nuke the threads. Someone you get a 3 day ban over it too.
The bot posting that creates the illusion of activity so people don't abandon the site? The mods might not be behind it, but they certainly defend it. And they have an incentive to perpetuate that illusion.

If cancer killed 4chan then this is the mold rotting the corpse. Nothing but autists trying to stamp out discussion of a show, movie, or video game by being the loudest voice in the thread accusing everyone of being a shill

I genuinely think /co/ is the most susceptible to bait threads. I don't think any other board gets baited into replying as much as /co/.
