I only really remember the episode where it turns out his dad didn't disappear but was on a super long mission for decades and they do a lot of bonding before he has to leave again. It was oddly touching for what was usually just a goofy cartoon about bong spies.
Also, the episode where everyone can't fucking help but eat this invading alien species because they're irresistibly delicious. They're all panicking that they're gonna get murdered by a space-faring race until it turns out that being eaten by humans is how the aliens move onto the next stage of their life cycle.

The golden age of Nicktoons Network, when they were actually innovating in the medium of animation, throwing their support behind indie creators and licensing shows from abroad (such as The Secret Show). Then it became the syndication dumping ground where shows go to die, and then it turned into NickSpongebob.

Nicktoons at points, and I am going off vibes here, really felt more like 2000's and late 90's with its bumpers and shows than CN at times. Later Nicktoons felt more like G4 in a dated kind of way compared to CN which began to have CN Real stuff but then 2010 rolled around and CN felt like 2010 while Nicktoons was more of late 00's/G4. That might be because I wasn't watching CN at the point when CN city was happening or I don't remember it too well but Nicktoons felt more like generic of the times aesthetic while CN was completely insulated to what they were doing. I remember Kappa Mikey, Making Fiends, El Tigre, MLAATR, Zim, Avatar, and Iron Man. Did not know Secret Show was on there. Man Nick had another moment there where it could have wrested control away but it kinda fell to the wayside.

Yeah, I don't know the whole corporate history of Nick and its various parent companies, but they were just always shooting themselves in the foot ever since Cartoon Network popped up and Disney dropped from Premium to Basic Cable. It's like they ran uncontested for so long as "the ONLY animation channel geared towards children" that they thought they were untouchable when people who knew what they were doing dropped into the fray.
People always point to CN City as the best era of the channel, but I personally loved CN Summer the most. The promise of a new generation of shows before the Aqua Teen Bomb Scare happened and they switched over to "School is Just Something Grownups Created" and lost all touch with the youth demographic.
