Is this really the Peak of Transformers comics?
I constantly heard how IDW is the best thing to happen to Transformers and its fucking horrible up till now
There are good elements but the comics dont focus on a single storyline long enough for it to become intersting right before something is happening it jumps to a completly irrelevant side story or introduced a new side story without finishing the previous arc
The Autobots somehow had enough time to fight DR Doom in a Marvel spin off but couldnt be bothered to save Sunstreaker

Megatron origin story was cool but the art was somewhat janky at times and it was hard to figure out

On the top we see a security bot and a fist so its easy to assume that something is gonna happen and the bot is getting hit in the face but in the next panel for some reason Megatron is turning his back around after his punch which makes no sense
what was going on at times but it was still really good
Its a shame Megatron became completly irelevant in the story really quick

Willis hated Dreamwave for taking attention away from his favorite TF fiction- the Marvel comcis. From day 1. He also hated how the art was more detailed(i.e. they were upset they were unable to get a job doing TF comics like they had been trying to since the late 90s.)

Dreamworks artwork was some of the most soulfull stuff i have ever seen
The i love how much color there is everywhere and how dynamic the Bots are
They arent as stiff as in other Transformer continuitys but they are still clearly mechanical robots
It reminds off Animated
IDW is art on the other hand is horrible
There is barely any color in most issues and its impossible to figure out whats happening in most issues
Also the artstyle keeps changing almost every issue even the character design of the Robots changes from issue to issue in IDW

Nah, Willis and Sipher hated Dreamwave even before that all came out. It just provided perfect justification for how they shit on it. Ironically a lot of the art they were shitting on wasn't even by Pat Lee

Ive started to collect transformers figures recently and i really like them and wanted to get into the comics but they are not really good
Transformers are the franchise with the most potential but they end up doing almost nothing with it
They are the perfect Action hero protagonist they can do literally everything
They transform into high speed sports car so you can use them for a chase scene or a race or smth
And even then they are still humanoid robots with a bunch of weapons bolted to their arms and because their robots and not humans you can easily kill tell of or do all kind of violent shit with them but somehow all Transformer media fails to use any of it potential
I only really like Prime Animated and the 86 movie

The second one was much better as they ditched the human shit and went full fan service: Shockwave kicking Megatron's ass and becoming head Decepticon, the D-List Wreckers appearing, White Prime Magnus confirmed.

But they took too much time getting the ongoing launched and wasted a huge amount of time on Japanese new toy Sunstorm and dragging out bringing Megatron back because they wanted to do a big Unicron story but not actually starting it until 2005. By then most fans stopped buying the ongoing and just read Furmsn's war for Cybertron minis.

Like why did Nova give up his Matrix when he left cybetron on the arc wasnt he allowed to bring his matrix with him?
And why is everyone imortal and capable of killing somone just by touch after entering the lake on gorlam prime?
How could they even lose if they are immortal Nova just lost after Galvatron shot him in the back because somehow he was immortal up until the plot had to continue

The Sunstorm story was just the opening arc of the ongoing book, and it seemed pretty well received by people who weren't already committed to hating Dreamwave. The idea that a significant amount of fans checked out of the main book entirely because of one story with a 'new' villain just doesn't ring true.

If you enjoy G1 Transformers, it's a fun ride, just be aware that everything's going to end abruptly and unfinished. A lot of the later material can't even be reprinted because there aren't records of whether everyone who worked on those books got paid in full or not.
