It's bad.
It feels less like a finished product and more like a storyboard outline that somehow got released as a pilot. The art looks extremely amateurish, like it was done by someone who’s just starting to learn the basics of drawing. If this were someone’s very first attempt at animation, I’d be forgiving, but calling this a pilot rubs me the wrong way. Would the creator seriously pitch this to a room full of investors? I’ve seen rushed student shorts with better animation and more cohesive art direction.
The writing and pacing are also a mess. It either needed to drop us straight in medias res or give us time to absorb the setting before throwing in the attack. Instead, it feels rushed and clunky. The action is painfully slow, emphasizing all the wrong beats. The protagonist defeating the beast with a single whip feels absurdly impractical, and the sequence has no real weight or tension.
Worse, I have no reason to care about the protagonist or the world. She has a “secret identity,” but why? She’s already a royal guard expected to fight these same creatures, so what purpose does the mask even serve? Secret identities only work if there’s a contrast between the hero’s public life and their vigilante persona. Here, it’s pointless.
And don’t get me started on the princess, boring design that doesn't tell us she's royalty and she’s a cunt, not the "fun, spoiled kind of rich brat you love to hate" type of cunt but the kind of insufferable type of cunt you secretly hope gets stuck with a horrible disease for the rest of their life kind. Also w does no one react to the vigilante's existence? It’s like the entire attack didn’t happen. The princess just got attacked and… everyone moves on?
On top of that, the dialogue is flat, like a first draft that was never polished. The character designs are bland and unimaginative, lacking any real personality or flair.
