Yeah nobody's going to pay what it would cost to do that right. Even in the 'spiritual successor' to Who Framed Roger Rabbit they cheaped out with CGI. That film and how amazingly its concept was executed was a lightning in a bottle once in a lifetime thing.

Is it weird that I'm more looking forward to the supporting characters being expanded? I really want to see Steel and Supergirl help out Clark in the sequel. Picture a free for all fight with Metallo, Parasite, Livewire, and Atomic Skull (main villain they work for TBD) against the Super Family.

Steel especially would be really cool to see because with Luthor behind bars (for now) he could create the STEELWORKS company, which not only rebuilds Metropolis but also can serve as Superman's "tech guy". I would imagine Mister Terrific would be regulated to his reported spinoff, coming back for Justice League and/or The Terrifics

Ultraman wasn't killed by the black hole but was since to some other parallel world where his skin turned white, deploy some intellect enough to talk and a slow speech, he barely remembers anything but Superman and so end up believing he's the real Superman.

Here's an idea I had while pissing in the toilet:

Mr. Mxylptlk is a comic strip published in the Daily Planet. It is also, unbeknownst to its creator, a bunch of windows to the 5th dimension. (Explained as being a result of the creator being in close proximity to the rift that tore through metropolis or something.) Mxylptlk is the only one of these 5th dimensional imps who can see the windows that open up and watch him, and while it started with him just talking through the windows to whoever happened to be on the other side, eventually he decided to hop through one. He's still stuck on the page, but now he can read the other comics and stories published in the daily planet, and fuck with whoever's reading the paper he happens to hop onto that day.
Eventually he discovers how to go from the paper to other mediums, and then he ends up helping Lex break out of Prison because he thinks Lex's experience with opening up portals to other dimensions could help him escape the page and become a real boy.

Seen people whining that we don't know character like Lex/Superman/Lois' origins. Like why does Lex hate Superman? Or why did Superman become a hero? Or why does Lois love Clark? Here's what I think WILL happen:

Gunn sees or has already seen the popularity of Lex, and, being the most if not only famous Lex Luthor story, he'll watch that episode of DCAU where he becomes President and memes on Question.

Upon watching it as his "study" on the character, Gunn will have seen that it is actually a plot about Brainiac controlling him to an evil end.

Hence for the sequel, he'll see it as the chance for the perfect promotion. All the posters will be Lex Luthor for President posters, it will seem like a Drumpf bad movie, and in some light ways it will be, and then at the end or middle of the film they'll reveal Lex was being controlled/manipulated by Brainiac. Because of this first film you'll probably think Brainiac is a metaphor for Israel too.

Personally I like the idea of a mix of Coluian and Kryptonian Brainiac, where Brainiac was a gift given to Krypton by the Colu Brainiac Collective to help them.
When Krypton started to destabilize Brainiac desperately tried to get the science council to listen to Jor El but they refused. When he tried to call Colu for help they blocked him. So realizing that Krypton was beyond hope, Brainiac took Kandor and left, vowing to never again allow a species to die out from their own incompetence

Based Toyman enjoyer. He's such a fantastic character with a truly iconic design (DCAU). And due to his setup, you can have basically any type of threat you can dream up (assuming it's toyetic). The only concern is that I'm not sure he could support an entire film, and likely serves best as a side villain that elevates themselves to main status. Exception being they play up the android angle and make it horror themed near the end.
