It was really only the first scene where's beat up. During the rest of the film, he's incredibly durable even if he gets knocked back many times, like The Engineer was literally choking him inside and out with her nanites and he still managed to fly all the way to space before slamming right back down to the ground.

You have to give credit to Lex. It really felt like he went all out here. Not even did most of the cartoons have him this well prepared. It almost felt like he was gonna win. You could really see why he's considered Superman's archnemesis over all the other metahumans. It's a real glow up compared to his Snyderverse version whose grand plan was:
1. Trick Superman into fighting Batman by kidnapping Lois and Martha
2. Having a fucking uncontrollable Doomsday-ified Zod as a backup plan.
3. Having hair
Their is a reason why Batman vs Superman was given such a low score and I think that version of Luther being such a letdown was one of them.
