Sausage Party
md5: 638d142936d6eba3795b7a1c91ece35e🔍
It’s a pretty neat premise ngl and a really fun bizarre time. I never really got why people online shit on it so much, is it because it’s edgy? There’s tons of edgy stuff that’s popular online like Drawn Together, Happy Tree Friends, Panty & Stocking, yet with Sausage Party it’s a problem? I will admit that the Foodtopia series sucks ass though, and this definitely did feel like Seth Rogens last good movie, he gone to shit afterwards. I really wish I watched this film when it was in theaters cause getting a theatrical experience with tons of other people reacting to the shit on screen seems like a really fun time.

IMO the worst thing this film did was influence VivziePop.

I don't think people hated it specifically because it was edgy, but because they didn't like the edginess itself. Given that it's a brand of humour, I think it's unfair to say that edginess is inherently good or bad, but it can be either depending on the writer(s), I suppose.

Goomba fallacy. I guarantee most of the people who hate Sausage Party also aren't fans of the other shows you listed. And really, the problem with all of the above is that, in spite of being edgy, they're just not that funny.

The fact that you had to reach into /a/ territory to make your point is funny, especially since Panty & Stocking is arguably the most tolerable example in your list—it's the only show where the animation is fun and flashy enough to carry the edginess. Everything else is just lazy crap made specifically to be edgy. P&S is at least fun, sexy, and stylish.

This pissed off people if i remember right. That and the bad ending led to word of mouth right after it came out being shitty. I didn't hate the first two thirds but fuck me the food orgy was so bad. The Jewish bagel getting fucked by the falafel or whatever? And the weird seth Rogen cameo at the end, they just didn't know how to end the damn thing and they were making these people work for free or they'd destroy their careers so it's just like what are we even doing here man. More specifically it means that you're stupid if you think every opinion you hear is from the same person, or even the same demographic. It's a basic misunderstanding of how big the world is, caused by only interacting with it through screens.

I've been wanting a buzzword for this particular phenomenon for a while, so I gotta hand it to zoomers for finally coming up with one. I'm also glad they based it on a piece of pop culture I'm familiar with, and it isn't called the "skibidi rizz fortnite" fallacy, or something.

also, it's only called the "goomba" fallacy because some zoom zoom tendie made that pic and just decided to use goombas.

At first I thought it was because a stupid player could feasibly mistake every goomba for being the same goomba just because they look the same, and get incredulous that they keep seeing the same goomba despite having stomped them already.

>imagine giving an 8/10-10/10 to The Rise of Skywalker
I'm fine with those ratings if they're being used to measure personal enjoyment and not quality. I think there's a fundamental disconnect in that regard, sometimes. I have some friends who will love the shit out of a movie, but rate it a 7/10 because they recognize the flaws. Conversely, I've also talked to people who will openly acknowledge a movie's flaws, but still give it a 10/10 because they loved it.

Personally, I've never seen Rise of Skywalker, but most of the criticisms I've read online are complaints about how it affects Star Wars lore and/or "shits" on the legacy of the original trilogy. But that doesn't mean it couldn't be the funnest movie someone ever sat down to see. Those are two completely different metrics.

It’s hated because of anti-semitism. It’s a very Jewish feeling movie and people pick up on that and hate it naturally, which is what Jews are talking about when they say that it is “in the blood” of people to be anti-semitic. As a bonus the main romantic pair is a tall bun with the coloration of a blonde bimbo (voiced by a gentile woman) and the hot dog man (small and geeky appearance, voiced by a Jewish man) which is an obvious self-insert fantasy by the story writers who are all Jewish. This is another thing that gentile audiences pick up on and revile without noticing how hateful they’re being

Personally, I just expected it to be funny. Which is was also not.

I honestly can't think of the last piece of "edgy" media I found genuinely funny or entertaining. Even raunchy comedies like Sex Drive or Tropic Thunder are evenly-paced with real emotions and lighthearted humor to make them more cohesive, relatable movies. The problem with "edge" is that you have to balance it. If you're just constantly trying to do the worst/grossest/most offensive thing imaginable for the sake of it, then everything else begins to suffer in service of that. Which might be fine for 11 minute cartoons or flash animations, but not a whole movie.

Didn't help that they had this behind the scenes issue of not paying the animators if rumours are true.
Beyond that a mix of people not impressed or acting like it was breaking new ground being a raunchy animated movie (but 3D this time!!!!) as if being cgi made it a newer concept that Fritz the cat and lot of old shit did 40+ years before.

For people outside of 4chan there were some issues of theaters dumb enough to play previews before kids movies because its cgi. Though that also just be rumours.

honestly, this was its biggest problem. It advertised this point as though there would be some kind of payoff, like it would be crazy profound, or absurdly funny, or that it would shift the industry perspective of animation being just for kids. But it did none of that. Instead, it just kinda sucked.

Also, holy shit, I can't believe this movie came out in 2016. The way it speedran to irrelevance makes it feel so much older than that.

While the humor is crass toilet humor, sex jokes, and race jokes with a lot of swearing the overall message is extremely uncomftorble for people who are not aware of things like loosh farms and the old ways that dates back to Mesopotamian roots (this includes Jewish mysticism).
So the infamous scene here is just an exagerrated parody of getting your soul eaten.

And the knowers of the truth are leading a grand conspiracy to lead the masses ignorantly into a slaughter house like cattle to save themselves. The intentions were originally just to make everyone have a good life as consolation that they need to sacrifice them to save themselves but eventually transformed into a grand religion with a power monopoly. If it wasn't for the contentious relationship with management and the employees of this movie; I wouldn't be surprised if the imperishables died and the surviving perishables in the conspiracy covets power and seeks dynasties and quest for immortality (becoming preserved foods) instead of a spiteful orgy.

That's kind of why I specifically thought it was funny OP included Panty & Stocking as contrast, because regardless of what you think about anime, P&S is a bold show with a unique style from a major studio that actually has fun with the fact that it's animated. But Japan generally has a better relationship with animation as an adult medium than the west, so that's not really surprising at all.

In the west, adult animation is just a means to an end to get any given writers' mildly-different flavor of raunchy humor on the airwaves—i.e., a Family Guy ripoff, like you said.

Such is the case with almost any CGI product—pre-production character designs always emphasize dynamic detail and expression more than the final product, because the final product. CGI is the process by which soul is removed from art, and I don't know why artists can never seem to conquer it.
