Why brown people use American website when can't speak English?
>>149422875 (OP) Because when they make stories with new characters, nobody cares.

>>149422881 >You can get into comics without getting into superheroes or licenseshit The problem is nobody has ever heard of these non superhero comics so they're not going to go looking for them.
>>149422875 (OP) So as to not feed the east vs west nonsense, whilst we're on the topic of stories, and Superman's up there, anyone know what the best stories done by Cary Bates are? I already have a list for Elliot S! Maggin.
>>149427099 >The problem is nobody has ever heard of these non superhero comics That's their problem They call stuff like Judge Dredd and Hellboy superheroes anyway, they apply it to any comic that isn't a funny book
>>149422875 (OP) Why does Japan keep making media about Gundam, Astroboy, Black Jack, Golgo 13, Doraemon, Anpaman, Devilman, Cyborg 009, Ranma, etc.? Why can’t they just make new media? Why are they continuing series even after the original author is dead like Berserk?!?
Japan is also shitting remakes up lately because older demographics

>>149429570 Only gundam is an anime/manga franchise from those. >>149429589 Even if you took all of the long franchises combined they still don't compare with how much capeshit exists and for every one of them 15 new ips pop out. They are the exception not the rule. >golgo >ranma The only media these franchises had in the last 20 years were 1 anime for each of them. >>149429576 I don't really consider either of these capeshit.
>>149429705 You are the disingenuous one. How can you compare something that literally rules the industry with something that doesn't? How many manga currently getting published are reusing the same characters that have been established 50 years ago?
>>149429720 Golgo13 Cooking Papa Kinnikuman Silver Fang Little Rascal Kobo-Chan Tsuribaka Nisshi Patalliro Kacho Kosaku Shima Ironfist Chinmi Sunset on third street Crest of the royal family Kariage-kun
Are just few titles that have been published for 40-50 years and are still ongoing. And more are closing in on that 40 year mark. Kochikame still gets new one-shots produced every couple years despite the original 1976-2016 run having already concluded. Lupin III keeps getting new manga and anime and even live action films produced all the time. Ge ge ge no Kitato was created in 1960 and so far has had six different anime shows, several film series, video games produced of it. Sailor Moon keeps churning out new content for n a regular basis atop of ice skating shows, idol groups, theme parks… Why does Japan keep making media of these things!??! Why can’t they just make new stuff!
>>149429982 >why does Japan keep making media of these things!??! Why can’t they just make new stuff! But they do? These are exceptions amongst hundreds of new ips that get made every year. Is it that hard to understand? >basis atop of ice skating shows, idol groups, theme parks… Lmao.
>>149430005 >And so do western comics But the numbers are not comparable. I remember a thread a while ago(1-2 years) that calculated how much capeshit got released in an year and the number was really fucking big. Bigger than I even imagined.
>>149430020 Yes they are because a disingenuous asswipes like you just wants to whine about superheroes while turning a blind eye to all the other comics being produced.
>>149430050 >Yes they are Can you provide proof for that? How many capeshit comics have been released this year compared to non-capeshit ones? >while turning a blind eye to all the other comics being produced. I didn't do that.
>>149430146 Sun wukong is the one of the only old stories chinks are allowed to celebrate in their current regime. Fortunately america is not a communist shithole.
>>149422875 (OP) Because the west have managed to brain wash people into worshiping IPs. "You're not a fan of a particular story, you're a fan of the IP."

Superman and Batman are properties of Warner Brother. They're not yours in any sense of the word.
