I briefly looked at pic related in a bookstore, and I liked the vibe, but I could just tell within a few random pages that I was going to be subjected to some tumblr tier shit. What is something like pic related, but not cringe. I am looking for recs. I just want comfy slice of life kino.

In the story, I am going to be subjected to sigh inducing socially left wing political opinions at random. One of the first pages I turned to had a man justifying another co-worker harassing a woman. I am not even really right wing. I just don't want random "Men bad" pages thrown in there and stuff like that.

It's not random, it's core to the story that sexual harassment and assault were commonplace at the work site and dorms. Slice-of-life includes the bad shit in life too.

The funniest thing was her directly encouraging people to turn "Oh Mr Darcy" into a meme at the bottom of the page, then getting outraged at the nickname "MEME WHORE" and only being remembered for that one strip

The rape thing is... hmm. See, when your rapist meets you socially later on and doesn't even know he raped you, we might need new terms to describe the interaction.

It's a great story about lower class Canadians, who couldn't afford a good education and were forced to be workers in these terrible conditions, leaving their hometowns for years to come.
It's an autobiography, so she spents a lot of time to talk about her feelings and experiences as a woman being stuck in a male-dominant workplace. But it also has a lot of compassion towards men who work there, and that's why I liked this book. It's important to explore these parts of life.

I'm skeptical. I've met a lot of oil rig guys and they're always gruff and crass. Even this one effeminate guy I used to know who literally spent all day sitting in his bedroom learning to code and posting autistic shit on the Internet came back from a summer out there talking like he was John Wayne chewing on a stoagie and it took around six months before that started to wear off. All of the guys would tell stories about shit about like picking one guy out of the crew who was wearing a polo shirt and calling him: "Abercrombie Bitch" the whole time or responding to each other's complaints with: "Does your pussy hurt? Try taking the tampon out." All good naturedly and stuff men do when they're doing grueling manual labor.

I bet this chick signed up to do it to prove "girls can do it, too!", couldn't actually do even a third of what everyone else was doing, but couldn't be fired because of how the law works so the guys started listing their temper and going: "Hey, numb nuts! Pick up the pace!" so now she's crying about it.
