ngl Hailey's On It had a great ensemble cast, the writers just had no fucking idea how to use them most of the time, and characters like Becker or Kristine would go absent for long periods of time.

I hated how they introduced her crush on Hailey, only to drop it completely in the next episode she appeared in. I thought that had some potential and could lead to some funny situations.

It never made sense to me how that episode makes it so Hailey making a female friend is a list item, and she befriends Becker, but she's known Becker her entire life and was seen playing with her in flashbacks. Were they trying to estalbish that Hailey has trouble making friends and is antisocial, maybe clinging to Scott too much?

Felt like this show could've explored some more interesting themes but Disney limited them to really basic do-nothing archetypes.

I think overall, the browngirlslop genre was simply killed by oversaturation. Remember, it wasn't just these shows, but netflix and nickelodeon were churning out their own slops too. Remember that one with the brown girl, alien, and pink haired mean girl that was basically dumped overnight by netflix/nick? Hell the FOP reboot had the power of a tumblr sexyman behind it and it still couldn't overcome the fatigue.

Scott also wasn't a great male lead. Didn't find him awful, but he was overly stupid and looked like he was 40 years old in the pilot episode.

Of the recent non-lore browngirlslops, I think Molly was a cut or two above everything else, and it still got cancelled relatively quick. That alone should've been a sign to the execs that the genre is spent.
