It's not a very good adaptation. I haven't watched the second season but I tried to watch the first season and I could only get through the first few episodes. Most of the actors are okay but the pacing is just really weird and they made some weird decisions about what story elements to keep and what to omit. Maybe they brought those elements in later, but I didn't finish the season. My opinion may be biased because I've read the comics and I knew what was going to happen - maybe it would be more enjoyable to people with zero knowledge of the source material?

It wasn't Gaiman's idea to make Death a cute goth girl. Mike Dringenberg, the artist who worked on the book, based the character on a friend of his named Cinnamon Hadley. It always irked Gaiman that the most popular character in the series was one that he didn't actually design himself so it's not surprising he changed her appearance for the live action adaptation just to be a petty bitch.
