Here in burgerland we have graphic novels that are popular among children, teens and nostalgic adults. They often tell a story about coming of age or dealing with teen problems, sometimes comedicsometimes serious. Such books were often sold in our schools. Is there a German, French, Spanish, Italian etc etc equivalent in Europe?

Also scholasticverse thread I guess.

We do have older kids/young adult novels over here, but I think they tend to be more of a local phenomenon.
In exactly sure if we have something of an equivalent to what you're looking for since they tend to either be straight up fantasy books, or at least have some sort of fantasy element, being more akin to something like Captain Underpants, than Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
The closet I could find that isn't just the localized version of DoaWK would probably be a series called Mira about a young teen girl and her daily life and struggles, though that is more of a graphic novel series.
That said, I'm not exactly an expert on the topic, since I'm in my 30s now, and the types of books I would have grown up with would have been stuff like Harry Potter, the original Goosebumps and the Valhalla and Elfquest comics.

Some (most?) European publishers have a category for the young (Jeunesse), I see them listed in dBD issues.
Examples:

Hachette Livre, one of the largest French publishers has many.

In Spain, FUTBOLISIMOS is the best selling kid book series. A local studio even made a live action movie.
>The premise of Los Futbolísimos (translated as The Footballest in English) is a series of children’s books written by Roberto Santiago that combines soccer, mystery, and humor. It follows the adventures of the Soto Alto Football Club, a group of 11-year-old boys and girls who play on their school’s soccer team in Sevilla la Chica, Spain. The main character, Francisco, nicknamed "Pakete" for missing five penalties in a row, and his teammates—Helena, Toni, Camuñas, Angustias, and others—have made a secret pact to always stay friends and play soccer together, no matter what.
>Each book centers on the team facing a unique mystery that threatens their friendship or the survival of their soccer club, such as referees falling asleep during matches or strange events like a ghostly goalkeeper. Alongside their soccer games, they work together to solve these mysteries to save their team from challenges like relegation or closure by the parents' association. The stories blend themes of teamwork, friendship, and growing up, set against the backdrop of their soccer matches and school life.

Cripple kid gets into stand-up (kek) comedy to cope with his disability. He's a good boy, doesn't magically get healed, and actually has some mature themes sprinkled here and there. I liked it, not as much as Middle School, but it was good.

Not that guy but I have. Loved the old art-style, modern one makes him look like a youtuber avatar. Each book has a self-contained plot, but there are some continuous plots in the book (he has a crush on the tomboy and they get closer with each book, some of the people in his life change places and the books keep mentioning stuff like that, references to events in past books, etc.)

I only read the first book. The characters felt like real kids. They argued over tactics, freaked out over tests, and the friendship drama was relevant to the plot. The ongoing mistery was simple but clever. Basically, It’s Scooby-Doo/ Enid Blyton's Famous Five but mixed with fútbol.

Ah right mb.
Don't have my fingers as much on the pulse on what's popular with kids just what I see is on the recommended shelf the most.
Some stand outs I know are popular is...
>Zombie lars
Comic series based on a TV series about a pre-teen boy who's a zombie and have to deal with the stigma about being undead while in Grade school
>Dektektivbyrå nr.2 (Detektive agency Number. 2)
Two young detectives sovling cases and mysteries around the coastal town of Elvestad.
More of a book with pictures than a comic but it's the most successfull out of all of em and intended for the youngest readers.
>Ville Poter (Wild paws)
Comic series about two foxes discovering the outside world after escaping a fur farm.
>Dragens Øye (Dragon's eye)
Fantasy adventure of a ash elf who lives underground, finds love and tries to escape some wizard that want her magic
>Nordlys (Northern Light's)
Girl get's isikaid into a world filled with Nordic and Sami folklore by a Troll boy

There is also some Norwegian Manga like Rakkan and Mørkalven but dunno how popular they are with younger readers.

Ah yes the practical knowledge of surviving zombies, vampires, T-Rexs, and the vacuum of space. Death caused by quicksand is incredibly rare, moreso than lightning strikes and plane crashes, so that's not practical either.

I think the funny thing is that most of the girl's advice is actually more useful and practical compared to the boy's stuff. Sure, a lot of the stuff in the boy's book is very useful if you find yourself in these specific situations, but how often do you actually find yourself having to treat frostbite, or in a plane crash? Meanwhile social interactions are things all kids are gonna have to deal with every day at school. Advice for dealing with friends and family, doing school tests, deal with bullies, etc are all things you are far more likely to need the advice for.

That is part of the reason why the final version removes them. Hence, there is noticeable blank space at the bottom; the person who created the meme felt this joke would have gone over everyone's heads, so they removed it.

See the final version doesn't have them:
