A reminder that when Taika's Dredd comes out, more people will compare it to 2012 Dredd than any comic because most people have never read a single Dredd comic and assume it was just a movie with Karl Urban
At least when people compared Tom Holland Spiderman to Toby, it's because of the debate of "which one is closer to the Marvel comics"
This won't happen with Dredd, which is also why some people are less likely to bash the Stallone movie nowadays

I read a Dredd story once. It was an older black and white story about a guy who wanted to be buried next to his wife. It wasn't bad but it didn't grab me or make me want to pursue the character more. I admit to being a film only filthy casual and I will do exactly what you said.

New Zealand anon here—2000AD was probably one of the most popular / accessible comic series here in the 70s-90s, so it’s likely Taika has a strong affinity for it.
I did like the tone of the 2012 movie though and Judge Anderson was a cute, so hopefully he doesn’t go too wacky
