>mixed to unfavorable reviews
>did well at the box office, got academy nominations, and have a small cult following

So are they bad or good?

Whatever happened to people acknowledging that some movies are just "meh"?

Brother Bear has actual fans who like it unironically despite it's flaws
Shark Tale only has fans because they like it ironically for the memes.

I don't mind heavily flawed protagonists like Kenai and Oscar

I can't picture a solid reason why someone would defend Shark Tale. If you take off the cringe it still feels like the sort of flick where nothing actually happens. Maybe there are one or two good jokes on the shark mafia scenes, but damn Will Smith was way past the time he could a movie on his own

Glad that they nominated Brother Bear instead of that Sinbad movie. Kenai has better character development than this guy

2D flicks will always have people who appreciate the animation itself. CG movies that visually age like milk have to have a good story.

Brother Bear must've done something right, since Pixar later borrowed a few elements from it

>For what?
>I'm going after the bear
>....I know what you're feeling, but... but killing that bear is wrong
>Wrong? Our brother is dead, and it's because of that monster
>I don't blame the bear, Kenai
>.....I see
>Killing that bear won't make you a man
>Now you're trying to be wise
>I'm trying to follow my totem. Why can't you do the same?
>You really think love has anything to do with being a man? A man wouldn't just sit here and do nothing

Brother Bear is a strong narrative held back by retarded decisions that attempt to make it more marketable for kids. Sharktale is a bad narrative because it was designed from the ground up to just be marketable for kids.

Shark Tale' storyline is aimed at older audiences, just like Antz and Shrek 2' storylines

Why not watch it and decide for yourself. What are you, some punk-assed kid who can't think for himself? Gotta let other people do that for you, eh.

Brother Bear is definitely not on the same level as the previous movies by Orlando division (Mulan/Lilo & Stitch)
