The color is the one thing I don't like about the suit but it's otherwise by far my fave live-action suit and actually one of my favorite suits of his, period. Fuck it's so good and actually stylish.

Also has the yellow 'S' on the cape too for once.

Eh, weird direction to take the character.

Also, the Gunn one has the best score between the three of them too. Probably going to go down as one of the best superhero movie scores ever.

I'm not someone who is reflexively hating the new film because they are REEing about some cult restoration or Jor-El this or that or anything else, but the costume is the worse thing about Coronswet's Superman.

He looks good as Clark, in spite of the broccoli hair. Routh did an excellent reconstruction of the 1978 movie, which is what he was asked to do.

Henry really didn't get to play Clark and I was never fond of any of the versions of Hobo Clark he played in MoS and thought, for the three short bits that he was Clark Kent in BvS, that he was essentially playing someone too old to still be an intern, especially during 'strong handshake' bit with EisenLex. I doubt Snyder would have kept Clark around except as Lois boy toy or as Martha's son, in any scenes post his JL and in any future movies.

But all three of their suits have problems, and Coronswet's had the most. However, almost all of Gunn's costume choices for Supers or Villains, were MEH except for maybe the Hammer, probably because it was the only original one.

I thought Gunn Supes was awesome performance and characterization wise except for Gunn's insistence on bringing him down the entire movie. The whole theme of the movie is about proving Supes' humanity and his willingness to keep going through it all, but he spends almost the entire movie getting his ass kicked. Almost every scene with Ultraman is like Luke Skywalker fighting Darth Vader in The Empire Strikes Back. When he finally took out the drones and won the fight, I wasn't thinking 'what a great fight', I was thinking 'well thank goodness that's over'.

I've been saying this for years. It's telling that the suit looked best in the theatrical version of JL where they brightened it the hell up.

>but the costume is the worse thing about Coronswet's Superman.
I disagree. Collar aside, it LOOKS like a Superman costume should be. The colors by themselves are on point. The lines break up the costume so it looks better in live-action without relying on weird texturing like the MoS suit or the Returns suit. I know superhero lines or whatever can be overdone to hell in movies but here it's not especially egregious. The 'S' shield is different and new, but familiar, seeing as how it's based on the Kingdom Come shield. It's also big, bold, and vibrant, like the shield should be, unlike the MoS' suit's muted colors or the Returns' shield being really small for some reason. It's also got the yellow 'S' on the cape too for once.

About the only things I'd change are the collar and the length of the cape, which I'd shorten to about the All Star Superman length.

But this still looks like it homages and adapts every version of Superman up to this point. It's a wonderful costume.

Or when the trucker pushes him in the diner and just bounces off him.

Not as awesome i nscale as stopping a bullet with your eye but it was fun seeing what happens if a regular person tries to mess with him.

It was a different time. Of course chuds exist and they get angry with woke media but they didn't have anyone to share their anger so they keep quiet and try to follow the social norms. Then social media was invented and talking to a screen gave them the courage to release their anger and surprisingly they found other people that shared their views. They organized and that's how we got here today

The new movie was entertaining and technically proficient. Abysmal is a term you would apply to something like the 2005 FF, or to Madame Web, just keeping it to capeshit.

As a DC comics fan and as a Superman fan, I am disappointed in choices that this film made, but I would say the same thing about any other DC movie released since 1970, so including the original Donner film.

I just donโ€™t buy that dude as Superman. Heโ€™s short and wears the most obvious padded muscle suits. Watching stand side-by-side by Routh in the CW Crisis on Infinite Earths event and getting absolutely mogged really drove that home.

GunnMan > Returns > MOS
Synder's good at aesthetics, but doesn't respect the characters at all and at least Returns had a good Lex. Did Snyderman ever actually help anyone directly? He just did a product placement or a jesus comparison every 30 seconds and pretended he was being deep.

Too be fair, Cavill was clearly doing the best he could with what he was given.

People always say Cavill could have been a good Superman if he were given "better material", but I disagree. The dude as a lousy actor and has been bad in every movie he's ever been in. The only thing he has going for him is that he looks like Superman. To some (people gay for him, I guess), that's enough. But it's not enough to make a good movie. Sorry.

I think he could have been better with "better Clark material". He did a good job as Superman. Looked the part, and when he was allowed to smile and be hopeful it worked.
But his Clark just felt like "Superman with glasses".

The obvious comparison is to Reeve. He really sold the two sides of Superman in a way that Cavill probably wouldn't have been able to match acting-wise, but he also wasn't really given any direction to differentiate the two.

Why the fuck would he agree to season 8 of a Superman show as long as he didn't have to dress up as Superman? He's on season 8 of a popular show. He had to know this was going to be the biggest part of his acting career no matter what else he did later in his life. All he had to do was put on the suit for one scene, and he couldn't even do that. Even Cavill wasn't that much of a fag about putting on the suit.

The original plan was he was gonna put on the suit for most of the season finale, but then he kept nagging about it, so it got wittled down to one scene where it's clearly CGI and close-ups so you never get a proper view of him wearing the costume. I don't know what his problem was. If he was too disgusted by being associated with Superman to even put on the cape, then quit after 1 season instead of sticking around for a whole fucking decade. Or was he too stupid to understand that was the inevitable end point to a Superman origin story?

Actors on his own show were wearing superhero costumes. If Erica Durance could dress up as Wonder Woman for an episode, then Tom has no excuse.

More so in movies iirc but you're not wrong. Things were kinda sorta starting to change by then.

I rewatched it recently and I forgot how much relationship drama there is in that movie. It's literally like 70% relationship stuff and 30% superhero-ing.

That makes it worse. Christian Bale is a proper actor who could have gotten any role he wanted in 2005, and he chose to wear a Batman suit for 3 whole movies. While Tom Welling's on a CW soap opera thinking he's too good to put on a cape for even one minute?

Batman is literally what made Bale an A-list actor, he was outright struggling after American Psycho.

The best adaptation? Unironically Returns. Most comic accurate Lex, Superman actually felt epic, Clark actually felt like Clark. Some aspects and details were even more accurate than in Donner's movies.
The best movie overall, out of these 3? Definitely not Returns, but it's hard to choose between Superman and MoS because they're both mediocre in my opinion. MoS is too edgy, and Superman is too campy for my taste, and it's not so much about Superman himself as it is about his friends and the Justice Gang. Doesn't work good as an entry point into this new DCU.

I just can't take his face seriously as Superman. No shade on the dude, he looks fine, but the thick eyebrows, and very dark 5 o'clock shadow just don't feel right.
The 5 o'clock shadow is the main problem becasuse it just makes him look like he should be the evil doppelganger like in the scene from Superman 3.

Eh, never bothered me honestly. The whole show was well written and directed, with a lot of banger moments. He was a great Clark, great Superman, and gave an older Superman fan a chance to see Superdad on the screen.

His acting was good, I can't deny that. Just couldn't get over the stubble, even if I enjoyed the show.

At least he put on the costume. Even the Fleischer one in the first episode.

You're gonna have to elaborate beyond buzzwords.
>Millennial
Yeah, he's in his 30s, anon. They weren't going to cast a 50-year-old Gen Xer as Superman.

Millennials in 2025 are 29 to 44. Any anon crying about millennials or zoomers is admitting they're 45 or older.

Same with Clooney, who was a TV actor and doing small projects before Batman & Robin.

Slightly better suit than Cavill, but overall best booty.
